Canon mp160 i have just replaced my cartridge and it still comes up empty I replaced the old black and color cartridges in Pixma MP 150. However, the Black and Color indicators continue to blink indicating that they are empty. Printing is happening.

E2 = Reload the paper correctly and press [Black] or [Color]
E3 = If paper has jammed in the machine, clear the jam, reload the paper in the
machine correctly and then press [Black] or [Color].

E5 = The FINE Cartridge may not be installed properly, or the Cartridge may notbe the compatible with this machine. Install the appropriate FINE Cartridge. If lines are misaligned or the resulting output is not satisfactory, carry out the FINE Cartridge Alignment.

The following cartridges are compatible with Canon MP160:

Canon PG 40 Black Ink Cartridge Black Ink Cartridge

Canon PG 50 High Capacity Black Ink Cartridge
Black FINE Cartridge, High Capacity

Canon CL 41 Tri Color Ink Cartridge
1 Cartridge of Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow

Canon CL 51 High Capacity Color Ink Cartridge
Color FINE Cartridge, High Capacity

Canon MP 169 will work only if both cartridges are inserted. If your color cartridge is empty then it will print only black (use grayscale option) but then also empty color cartridge should be present in the printer.

Maintenance your cartridge with head clean or deep clean. If you don't get full colour, then change the colour cartridge.

sorry you cant use printer with only one cartridge, you have to put both

First, download the software at http://www.box.net/shared/4yblbn34kg

Secondly, to run the software your printer has to be in service mode. Do that by
- unplug cable
- press and hold "power" button
- plug cable
- press "resume" and release
- release the "power" button
At this stage, your computer will detect a new hardware

Run the software.

Our pixma MP150 printer has a flashing E and flashing 5, also flashing on alarm, black ink and color ink. We have replaced the ink cartridges but nothing happens. They were empty. The printer doesnt recognize that the cartridges are there. We have tried unplugging the cords and taking the cartridges out and putting them in again. Also, it wont scan a thing either. ITs likes its frozen in the error. What can we do to fix this?

E7 indicates that the cartridges are incorrectly installed. Check to be sure the Black is on the left and the Color on the right.
