How do I get to my webcam in my acer laptop d150 i like to be able to make a icon for the webcam on my desktop , so i can adjust the settings in it as well , as au moment i do not even know were it is or the name of it cheers

Read this FAQ from ACER:
How to use the built-in webcam? The integrated webcam can be used by third-party applications such as Yahoo Messenger, Windows Live Messenger, AOL Instant Messenger, Skype etc. Use the webcam button in the messenger software and it will automatically turn on and start the webcam.
Select models of Acer netbooks also ship with a program "Acer Crystal Eye Webcam". This program will enable the webcam immediately after startup and can be used to take pictures and record video.

For our Linux-based netbook, you can find the Instant Messenger program in the "Connect" section on the desktop . Additional software like Skype, are available through our special website for the Aspire One netbook. Within the "Fun" section of your Linux desktop, you will find a program called "Webcam" which can be used to test the built-in webcam.


Look for "Acer Crystal Eye Webcam" entry in the programs menu, then right click on the program icon and click on "Send to the desktop as a shortcut".

It's always recommended that you restart your system after installing any kind of software . Did you do that ? If not , then you should do it . If that didn't work , then you should take your Extensa to the service , because it seems that camera is not wired . It's better to get it to an acer shop if you still have the guarantee.

try reinstalling the driver using the CD that u got along with it.. or go to http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/notebook/as_5720.html to download the driver. It should work after reinstalling..

The fastest way of fixing it just reinstalling the driver. here's the link

After you download it and run it. It would probably tell you If you want to uninstall instead of install. Uninstall, restart the computer and run the software again to reinstall. It should fix your issue. I hope this helps.

I understand your concern.
If i were you i would buy a small external webcam which is available for laptops.
There are two reasons for that. First of all, if you take it to the Acer repair center, they will charge you a huge amount (since it is not in warranty).
Second thing is that the lead which you are talking about is practically impossible to get other than from their manufacturer.

then install there are more than 1 camera driver for your laptop so install 1 by 1 if you not know the camera chip company.

How to reformat aspire one netbook d150
If acer gives you a cd wherein you can insert it and reformat back to original settings, please make sure you shut down the pc and then press repeatedly F12. Then select Boot to CD. Follow the prompts and select Format C: drive to begin reformatting it..

Restore Acer Aspire ONE D150-1165 Netbook
On help and support menu, type restore system. You will get an option to what date your OS will restored. Make sure you decide the correct date ( when the OS is still working fine). Key in the date ( or choose the preset date) the enter. Wait for process done completely. Your OS should be restored now.

Audio from my acer aspire one d150 has chipmunk-like sound... from music to movies... please help
If you are using windows media player, right click on the screen part of the player and go to enhancements, there are arrows near the top to navigate through the different settings pages, there is one to adjust the play speedsee if this is set higher than necessary and adjust.

Hi , maybe this might work for your acer,
Go to acer recovery.This can be done by hitting Alt & F10 together as soon as the computer starts.
Hit hard disc recovery.
Follow the instructions and this will format the drive and reinstall the factory settings. hope this helps

I had a similar problem with an Acer1
Best way to find out if it working is to install the latest version of Windows Live messenger and then run the setup routine for Video.
Generaly that gets it working..
Then you can go the Acer FTP site and download various liveAction webcam software.

I have an Acer D150 laptop. The inbuilt webcam did function perfectly for 3 months but since few days, it shows some green and pink colored image of me when infront. I have disable/enabled it and also...
look at the controlls of the camera might just be you have the settings wrong

you can reinstall cam by clicking recovery icon
or in c:\ drive you'll see a Acer folder open then click empowering then scroll and click erecovery empowering technology
you'll be able to reinstall drivers and applications

Cannot find the icon or whatever in order to use the crystal eye
Right click on an open space of your desktop. Select New>Shortcut.

When the Create Shortcut window comes up, click Browse.

Double-click "Computer".

Double-click "Acer (C:)" or your C: drive. It may not be named Acer.

Double-click "Program Files".

Double-click "Acer Crystal Eye webcam".

Click "Acer Crystal Eye webcam" next to the small icon. (NOTE: Do not select the one that just says "Crystal Eye". It is only an icon, not the program.)

Click OK.

Back at the Create Shortcut window, click Next.

Type in whatever name you want to give, or leave the default as is.

Click Finish.

Icon appears on desktop. Double-click the icon to begin the program.
