Dell 620 Battery Issues

I have a Dell 620 office machine. It's on AC power all day, and I noticed it yday that in the evening when I take off the AC power, it shows low battery.
And even after taking it off the AC power, it shows AC Power icon on the right hand side bottom taskbar. Checked the Power options in control panel. Everything seems to be fine.
Took out the battery (kept it out for a minute) and then placed it back in. Did not solve the problem.
So, now whenever I take the AC power chord out- it goes low battery.
& even after taking the power chord out , the icon for AC power doesn't go off.

Please Help!

Alright, I can try that. I have another Dell 620 machine at home.

Also, this is a fairly new laptop. I got it 2 months back. So, I think battery should not be a problem. I 'll check on circuitry.

    Thanks!!

Chances are pretty good that your battery just needs to be replaced. Over time all rechargeable batteries loose their ability to hold a charge. It's also possible, but less likely, that there could be an issue with your AC power adapter or the charging circuitry inside the laptop.

Best bet would be to find a similar laptop with a battery that does charge and switch. If the problem follows the battery then you need a new one.

Issues with Laptop Battery not charging

You may have a bad battery but, my best guess is the motherboard and it is not cheap.

Hi, about the blinking lights on the machine you have on your machine, it means that there is a problem on the hardware of your computer it could be memory, video card or even motherboard problem, it means that you need to have it service to fix the problem. I suggest try to get in touch with the manufacturer if happen the machine is in warranty to have your machine service. Hope it helps.

Hi. i got a dell inspiron n4010 laptop. my battery backup suddenly dropped to half. i bought the laptop just 25 days ago. what may be its cause?

I am glad to HELP YOU!

The problem that are you describing here occurs many times - even for the BRAND NEW laptops!
The RAPID DRAINAGE of the batteries can have multiple causes:
# a defective battery
# the humidity of the storage place
# a bad connector
and so on.
What I'd suggest you is to take back your machine to the store and to ask for a BATTERY REPLACEMENT. I assume that if you said you've bought your Dell 25 days ago it should be under some WARRANTY CONDITIONS...
The next battery you will gt do like this:
# attach the battery into its slot
# make sure your Dell machine is OFF
# connect the AC power supply into the wall plug
# with the machine still OFF let the battery fully charge for AT LEAST 16 HOURS.

My best regards!
... and don't forget to RATE, please...

My Dell Inspiron 8200 will not power

Dell 1525 won't run on ac but will on generic battery

Dell systems will not charge the battery without a Dell Branded AC adapter connected to the system (The BIOS looks for the adapter ID and disables the battery charger if not ID'd)
It appears, that since the system will not power on with either AC adapter, that there is a problem with the power connection of the system. You can replace the power board

if that fails to resolve next is the motherboard

Battery will not charge

Hi!

It's your ac adapter that is causing this issue. The ac adapter doesn't supply enough power or doesn't supply any power at all to the battery. Try to borrow another ac adapter from any inspiron system and if that works, then you need to replace the ac adapter, else, it's the motherboard.

Hope you find it helpful.

Thanks,

Karlox™ :)

Dell inspiron 6000

On ac power when you hit the power button, if there are no lights, it could be the power supply. If there are lights, try starting it without the battery, ac only. If there are lights and it still doesn't start after removing the battery, try a different memory chip. On Dell machines the battery can acquire a dead short causing it to not start. Also if the memory chip/chips have gone out it will cause it not to start. If it still will not start after these three it's a motherboard problem and will most likely have to be replaced.
