I have the same problem: LCD is blank, glows blue, but no icons. The remote still controls the equipment. It's just over a year old (i.e. ...out of warranty). I called support and as soon as I told them problem, they offerred me a 50% off coupon on a new remote, and did not even try to troubleshoot it. This leads me to believe that this is a known problem that they just don't want to go to the trouble of fixing, they would rather you buy a new remote. I've updated the remote's software and firmware but that did not help. As a last ditch effort, I have a new battery coming and will try that next.
Replacement screens can be found on ebay for around $25-$30. I was having the same problem as everybody else, and none of the solutions posted online worked for me - software, firmware, battery pulls, safe mode, etc. I replaced the screen in about 5 minutes and was back up and running.... I almost bought a new remote, but figured I'd try the $26 screen first.... Glad I did..
