My Yamaha CDR D651 appears to dislike new 50x maxell CD-r discs saying not audio. Works fine with 12x discs. What's wrong? Rowan

you probably have regular cd-r disks that cannot be recorded on in this unit. You can only use disks marked "DIGITAL AUDIO" for recording

Can i use any type of blank cd format i.e. MAXELL,TDK,SONY cd/cdr/cdrw. On a TASCAM CD-RW5000 or Do it just take the DIGITAL AUDIO/COMSUMER TYPE ?

What does the instruction manual say about what to use?
Personally I buy Taiyo Yuden and have never had a problem. In Radio we used a lot of CDRW900 units and they used them many times a day using standard data discs. Name brand discs like Maxell and the rest are there for profit- they don't make discs so they do not regulate the quality. Go to supemediastore.com and read up on media quality and you will end up with what I use.

My cd recorder wont read blank cds help me please

Do as it asks, insert blank CD-Audio or CD-Music media.

Discs for recording
For recording, make sure to use special audio discs only.
These discs are marked with “Digital Audio” and the logos shown below.
There are two different types of audio discs for the use on this CD recorder:
– CD-Audio Recordable (CDR) discs
These discs can be recorded on once and
play in all standard CD players and CD
recorders, when they are finalized.
– CD-Audio ReWritable (CDRW) discs
These discs can be recorded on, erased and
re-recorded many times and play in CDRW
compatible CD players and CD recorders,
when they are finalized.
– All Philips CD players and CD recorders
with the sticker shown here are CDRW
compatible.
To ensure proper working of the set we recommend the use of Philips audio CDR and audio CDRW discs only.
Note: Do not use a computer CDR or CDRW as recording will not work!

Go here and download the manual. You'll need it.

Wrong disc

Some audio cd's work better than others. I have experienced some problems with the Maxell brand so I switched brands. It can be quirky. Sometimes you get a bad lot of discs. I have had no problems since that bad lot of discs.

Trouble with cdr 570 philips

Newer discs are made with different dyes. We no longer get philips discs in the UK but Maxell 80 min discs work great in my 570. Have you ever been able to use 80 min discs? Usually if a machine only accepts certain types of disc it means the laser's power output is reduced i.e it's worn out so it may be time to find a new machine unless you can get a supply of discs it does use OK.

'Mr Audio' discs from Mr Data should be avoided at all costs.I can only use them in my Sony machines.

RECORD DROP OUT

Just bought this CDR 570 and not use yet.

Reading the instruction manual - yes, life experience has taught me some really useful stuff! -

Under 'Discs for recording' on page 7 it says at end of section

IMPORTANT:
To ensure proper working of the set we recommend the use of PHILIPS audio CDR and audio CDRW discs only'
Roughly translated I read this to me - 'don't blame us if the set don't work using other (non-compatible) discs' !!
