Hi, i'd like to have some instructions on how to replace the keyboard on my acer 3680 ,thanks

Hello.
Glad to Help You.

There should be a panel above the keyboard that is usually held in place by a series of tabs. You will need to pry it up. Starting from one corner, gently lift it until you can remove the entire panel. If it seems overly difficult, look around the LCD hinges for screws, some laptops have them. You should find that the keyboard is held in place by 2 - 3 screws at the top, remove these screws, lift the keyboard, whilst being careful with the ribbon connector.

Attention! Be very gentle with the keyboard connector on the motherboard.
f you break the keyboard connector, you’ll have to replace the entire motherboard or use the laptop only with an external keyboard.

Good Luck.

I need to replace the keyboard on an Acer Aspire 3680 series laptop

Hi there.
Remove the laptop battery and the AC power supply, open the lid as far back as you can take it.
Get a small flat headed screwdriver, now, you have to take off the keyboard bezel, this is the strip of plastic above the keyboard with the power button on it, the best way to remove it is to start by the on/off button by gently prying the bezel up from the lid hinge, once you have one side out gently pull it up using your fingers, it will unclip and lift away.
Next you have to remove 2 screws from the top of the keyboard, these should be visible to you, once the screws are out carefully lift the keyboard up, you will see a ribbon cable that is connected to the motherboard, gently pull the tab up on the connector that the ribbon cable sits in and it should release it and you can now remove the keyboard and replace it.
To re-assemble just follow my direction in reverse.
Please post back with the results and for any additional advice if needed.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

My acer aspire 3680 lost it's keyboard! The mouse works fine but the keyboard doesn't do anything, it's like it's not connected. Can you help

odd. go to thh control panel-- then system-- hardware--device manager

check under keyboard-- is it there? (you can do all this with the mouse)

I ask because if a part of the computer stops working, it usually gets a yellow ? mark in front of it in the list. what you can try is to "remove" the keyboard if you see it-- it will not really do it, because on reboot, it will reload your drivers again-- remove or uninstall the keyboard in the device manager, then reboot the computer and soo if the reloaded drivers fix it.

if not, it may be hardware failure. windows has plenty of drivers in it to drive any keyboard-- you dont need anything special, so there's no mystery download that your missing.

can you call acer and see if youre under warranty? you may need to send it in. dont forget, you could always buy an external keyboard for 15 bucks to plug into the back to tide you over until you're ready if you need to send it in for servicing...

Acer 3680 keyboard

Keyboard removal work one of two ways on about every laptop out there. 1- The screws holding it are on the bottom of the machine, sometimes marked with a K. 2- The screws are under the power button strip at the top of the keyboard, the strip snaps into place, so lift up on one side and work it up and off. Here's a couple of links for laptop breakdown diagrams. You should be able to find your machine there or at least a similar one to give you an idea.

ACER 3680 KEYBOARD

there are many many different keyboard designs, it is hard to make a suggestion...usually if it looks like nothing is broken on the key or keyboard you push down firmly and it snaps back into place.
