Help! My Shark Professional Rotator vacuum cleaner Model No. 400 won’t stay “on” unless I physically hold the on/off button down while trying to vacuum. The machine is working PERFECTLY FINE aside from...

Shark vacs are not made with a very high quality standard. They also don't have a parts department. They are disposable vacuum cleaners. Before you spend too much time and money on Shark, go see what your local vac shop has to offer. You will be surprised at the quality difference at essentially the same price.

Handle won't release to let down so I can vacuum the floor

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC17. You should find the cleaner reclines easily into the vacuuming position when you place one foot on the cleaner head and tilt the handle back. If it won't do this, you might want to try using a little more force than usual in case the upright lock mechanism has jammed.

If this doesn't seem to help, or if you're hesitant to try this, it's probably best if you get in touch with us directly. One of our experts will be happy to run through some troubleshooting over the phone with you, and recommend the best course of action. You can call us free on 1866MYDYSON - or if you email your details to [email protected], someone will be in touch as soon as possible. We'll look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,

Jack

you have got dust in the micro switch and it is not latching on, if you look at this and clean it, that will solve your problem, however blowing the motir has probably wrecked the motor bearings.

I have a rca universial remote control and I lost the manual and cant program it for my toshiba television I need the code and directions how to program it

Not knowing the code, you'll have to do it using the Automatic Code Search method.

1. Turn the TV ON manually.

2. Press and release the TV button on your remote. The illuminated ON-OFF button will turn on and stay on.

3. Press and hold both the TV and the ON-OFF buttons. The illuminated ON-OFF button will turn off, and then will come back on.

4. Release both buttons after the ON-OFF button turns back on. The button should remain on.

5. Press and release the PLAY button. You may have to do it several times. Be patient.
If the TV does not respond after five seconds, continue to press and release the PLAY button every five seconds until the TV turns off.

6. Just to check the code is right, after the TV turns off, press and release the REVERSE button then wait to see if the TV turns on again.

If that works, you've got it!

Press and release the STOP button to save the new code.

My brush assembly fell off!

They lock into that blue arm with the two holes in it. The erm is plastic and has the spring loaded latches that hold the brushes in. If the latches have failed the brushes won;t stay in. The other option is the latch pins on the brushes have brocken or worn out. Turn the machine over and try to make the brushes latch, also push the brush release buttons several time to make sure they are working. Good-luck.
