My cd-rom drive has stopped working all of a sudden and when I try to open the D:/Drive in My computer it keeps on telling me that the drive is not ready and is not accessible. I took out my old cd-rom drive and replaced it with a new one and I still get the same message. What can I do to fix this issue?

Check to see if your device manager is seeing the CD and DVD drives if not then apply this FIX

You will need to reboot your PC it will then reinstall the drivers if they are missing.

If device manage does see the drives it can't hurt appliying this reg tweak if this fails then your drive is on its way out.

Rotating drives both Optical and Magnetic are always the first to go on a PC this includes the Processor and PSU fans as well !!

Cd rom drive door keeps opening up when in, it won't start cd

Try to this. Start - Right Click My Computer - Properties - Hardware - Device
Manager - CDROM - Properties - Disable. See if it Stops then enable it again.
Look at cdrom button it might obstructed or pressed in, try pulling and pressing. Or it could be a program/driver problem. Try restoring your pc the day before it happen.

My computer has suddenly stopped detecting the Samsung CD-RW/DVD-ROM Combo Drive. It does not display E: drive in the Windows explorer. I am not able to play any kind of discs.

Right–click My Computer, click Manage, and then click Device Manager. make sure there are no yellow or red boxes in the left. if it is rede or yellow, right click and update drivers. If this doesn't work, turn your computer off then unplug. Open the case and re-seat the cables. Plug system in, and turn on. If you can't see the drive still under my computer you will need a new drive.

Replace the Cd-rom drive, sounds like you may have a bad spindle motor and or Laser assembly. Cd-roms are very cheap these days, and you might consider replacing it with a DVD drive instead, which is downward compatiable.

Cannot open cd-rom drive!

The thing about cd/dvd drives in general is that they die and thats the case here even if you deleted anything of the operating system its self would notice that the cd drive was missing the driver and ask you about it since you havent stated that its safe to say that the drive is dead

CD-ROM Not responding

you can get the disc out by inserting a pin in the small hole on the cd draw, but when this happens it means the laser is failing to read the disc and the cdrom is failing, unfortunately the cdrom cannot be changed in the acer notebooks.
