Try cleaning the laser lens with a q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol (not dripping).
use the other end to gently dry it (twirl the q-tip).

or you can use a laser lens cleaner for video game systems.

Is that the only disc you seem to be having the problem with?? If so try getting the disc repair kit and using that. I had the same problem with mine but it was only some of the discs. The ps2 slim can be very sensitive and even the slightest defect in a disc will cause it not to recognize there is even a disc there.

Your PS2 lens is probably weak or its dirty.You should try to clean your PS2 lens first.A dirt on lens wont let your PS2 lens to read your Game disc. Watch this video this will help you to know how to clean your PS2 Disc Reading Lens.



Try to place your PS2 at clean place and clean your PS2 regularly.

Have you tried cleaning the lens? using a DVD disc cleaner or a cotton bud and some methylated spirits.
If that doesnt fix it the lens is knackered, common fault on PS2 consoles.

This is optical lens assembly failure. you will need to replace this failed assembly in order to restore the normal functions.

that means that the disc is not compatible with the ps2 i mean that the containing of the disc can't be read on the ps2 so that's why it turns u to the main system configuration ....

Disc read error
Your PS2 lens is faulty or it is physically jammed in it's metal rod which stops the lens to move smoothy. you better open the PS2 console and observe it offline for jam. or replace the lens with a new one.
