If that thin line, mostly white line running across the center of the tv horizontally. Most likely you have a vertical deflection problem. Cold solder and problematic vertical IC and near component, usually capacitor is at fault. This is for a tube television.

Vertical IC replacement or resoldering of the pin may do the work. But if you are not inclined on electronics better not, nasty voltages might zap you.

Hope this helps.

I have the Samsung 50" projection HDTV HLT5075S-

If the the thin lines you describes here, are across the screen, and it is present all around the screen, and the spacing between them is at about 1 inch apart [whit thin lines along with picture], the fault is due to some electrolytic capacitor/s at its video output supply voltage. If the screen voltage has became more than normal, this type of fault can occur too. Anyway, your TV needs a through checkup. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/. Check this link. One among the posts there have details about these kind of fault. Technically, this fault is called 'vertical retrace lines', Check the link. Thin white line on right side of tv intermittent

The only easy hope here is centering is off just slightly to the left and the line etc will show on certain scenes and or channels.

Not sure if this set has a centering in customer menu or maybe in the tech menu---a call to sharp might answer this for you.

Picture go into a thin line.

You have a thin horizontal line in the center of the TV. You, in this case have vertical IC that has bad grounds. Resolder the vertical IC pins and check the capacitors in the immediate area and replace these caps as necessary. If you still have a horizontal line, you will have to replace the vertical IC. Find a TV tech or someone with electronic experience to do this for you. Should be reasonable to fix. Thanks for asking and Good Luck!

I get a thin line of distortion on my sony xbr 42in

Your format is wrong. Make sure that your tv is in full mode and your direct tv is in 1080i stretch mode. This should correct the problem. Also, WB is having problems. This is common on their channel. If it is happening on any other channel, try the above. Hope this helps. JOHN
