Cannot play this disc

get a dvd cleaner disk. it realigns the laser and cleans the laser lens. clean the dvd compartment with a dry cloth

usually this happens when lens cannot read the the disc. Due to few reason 1 Your disk is scratched 2 Your DVD lens is covered with dust 3 You need to replace DVD lens
Try another few CD/DVD to rectify whether there is any problem with dvd you are trying to play
if this error occurs on all the dvd you played then the most likely proble is with your DVD lens either its coverd with dust use Disk cleaner if not you got to replace a new DVD lense as per model

SYMPTOMS When you try to play a disc, you may receive the following error message: Can’t read this DVD.
CAUSE The DVD or game disc may be dirty or damaged. Because the console cannot read the disc well, it may even mistake a game disc for a DVD and report this error. If this problem occurs with multiple discs, even clean and undamaged discs, there may be a problem with your Xbox 360 console.

THINGS TO TRY Here are some things that you can do to try to fix the problem or to determine what caused it.

Determine whether the disc is dirty or damaged Discs that are smudged, scratched, or otherwise damaged cannot be read by the Xbox 360 console. You will want to examine the disc to see whether it has smudges, scratches, or other damage. To do this, follow these steps: 1. Examine the disc for dirt or damage: a. Pick up the disc by its edges. Do not touch the top or bottom surface. b. Examine the shiny side of the disc to make sure that the disc is clean and has no damage.
NoteScratches that follow the curve of the disc are very damaging and prevent a disc from being read. If your disc has even one of these kinds of scratches, the disc is damaged, and you will no longer be able to play it. If this is the case, see step 4. 2. If the disc is dirty, clean the disc by hand: • Use a soft, clean, dry, chemical-free cloth to clean the disc. • Lightly wipe from the center of the disc outward. 3. After you clean the disc, try to load it in the Xbox 360 console. If the disc still will not load or you receive the same error message, the disc is damaged, and you will no longer be able to play it. If this is the case, see step 4. 4. What follows is mostly generic advice which applies to the vast majority of DVD players which I've tinkered with.

Your problem normally only happens if someone else has played a different region coded DVD on your machine. Normally you get seven chances to reset the region code before the machine locks itself permanently to one of them. before the changes are permanent the player will usually ask you if you want to change the region code when you try to play a disc from the wrong region.

Before doing anything else it's worth asking other members of your household if they have recently used the player, especially if you know anyone may have been using imported discs. If they've used up all of the region changing opportunities then hacking the machine might not work at all.

If you use a search engine you can search for DVD-P181 hack and these will guide you through the process to make your DVD player a multi-region machine, but there are three different hacks which I've seen for the same player so you may need to try them all.

Check to make sure your player can play other disks. If so then use the disk doctor to remove the scratches on your favorite disk. The area that all DVD players scan before playing a disk is probably smudged or scratched.

sounds like your file is to large by the time it writes in and out or the disks a not to great

i would say for some reason your dvd player is not compatible from now on with that brand of blank dvd!


get the firmware update from the brand website all you do is download the file burnit on a cd and put it in the dvd player should fix most and eventual problems

sounds like you have a problem with the laser.laser has to focus a lot sharper to play dvd thus will play vcd but not dvd.Try cleaning first and if this doesnt work would suspect laser faulty,.
