Is the burner in my computer broken?

Everytime I try to burn music it goes thru the whole process of preparing it to burn etc etc but when it has to actually burn it to the disc it wont do it. It will either tell me there is no disc (when i have put it in) or it just cant do it??!! Also when I put a disc in which i know has photos on it, it doesnt read it and says it is blank?? It also wont burn photos to a disc for me.

Sounds like the head in the burner is off or has been jarred out of alignment somehow its probably cheaper to replace it than to have someone service it ......check to see if the burner ur using has been selected in the software options menu first...you'd be wasting time and money if it was something that simple

My cd/dvd drive will not burn cd/dvd's properly. it goes through the motions, but the discs come out as blank, i was able to burn cds at 2x speed, but that was it. any movie, or anything else will go...

ok..
what kind of application you use for burning??

try it again then double check if you really choose the right path of th drive you want to use as burner..

then you are sure that you burn the music as audio cd not data cd..as well as the video cd not data cd..

because if you burn data cd only computers can read that.. not your aplliances like for example your dvd player,cd,etc.

Trying to burn music and video.prgram tells me

Use Ctrl-Alt-Del and use 'Task Manager': - Under the 'Applications' tab, you will find all the 'application' that are runnning. - Under the 'Processes' tab, you will find any processes that is running and if you sort the 'CPU' column by clicking on it, it will show any processes that is grabbing your computer resources.
In your case, I would suspect that you have 'AUTOPLAY' enabled and each time you insert a Music or DVD movies, it is trying to run a program like Media Player or DIVX player: if prompted, just tell your machine to do nothing or go into Windows Explorer.
Hope it helps.

Macbook wont work with freecom dvd lightscibe pro firewire

Hi:

I know exactly how you feel, since the lightscribe feature is great, but the lightscribe software is pc and not mac compatible, though the burner will work up til that point in the process on a mac.

I solved the problem by using an external dvd burner on a spare pc which will accommodate the installation software for lightscribe and burn and create and decorate the dvd.

I have yet to try a possible solution involving a Core Duo and combo Mac/PC Operating system since I still use an old iBook G4 to create videos but if your Macbook will accommodate both types of OS then you might try using the lightscribe software installation disk on your macbook in pc mode as a windows application.

Let me know if that works for you

MY PC no longer "burns" cds-but there is no "error" message

My only suggestion is to borrow another burner if possible and see if you get the same error with with that one. This will be the simplest way to determine if you have a software problem or if your burner has a fault.
