sure your remote has frozen? you can check if it is still working, by pointing it to a digital camera (camera in a phone is fine) Then press one or a few buttons on the remote and look on the mnitor screen of the camera if you see a light flickering.
If you see a light, the remote is still working.
If some buttons don't work anymore, check if somebody poured in some soda or coffee.If so, you could try cleaning it. but the best thing to do is buy a new remote. Read how manny questions are here about "universal" remote controllers and all their problems and you might decide to buy the original.

Don't forget to replace batteries so now and then.

hi on the remote control press the i button this should remove the caption, go into the menu on the tv select display setting check the time out hope it helps

Hi I had exactly the same problem with mine it worked the DVD player fine but not the TV even though previously it had worked both .......... Manual Guide In the manual guide I managed to dig out it says to do the following to set up the remote to work the TV

Press the TV button on the remote
Then whilst holding down the power button you need to enter in the samsung TV codes until your TV turns off (I only got to the first and it did it)
The numbers are 00, 15, 16, 17, 40, 43, 46, 47, 48, 49, 59, 60, 98

I would not recommend opening the remote make sure the ir sensor on the tv is clean and the path between the remote and tv have nothing in the way

Make sure the line of sight from your remote to the tv's infra red is clear. The remote will work if the path is clear.

Unless you had the remote tested by Samsung, the test isn't comprehensive; it will only tell if the remote is putting out infra-red of some kind, that type of tester cannot determine if the codes are correct or complete. The only true test would be one in which you had a second TV or a second, known working remote. Even using an oscilloscope with an infra-red detector wouldn't help unless one had the specific code sequences available, it would only appear as a pulse train.
