The projector shuts down after about 3-4 minutes. had been working perfectly for over 2 years. only 200 hours on the bulb. temp&lamp lights aren't lighting, it just dies. seems to be ok after it cools down, but wont stay on more than 5 minutes.

This is a common issue with these. When the bulb fails it can put added stress on the power supply and cause parts in the supply to fail. They are not meant to be serviced by the end user. I would check to see if you can locate a parts source for the power supply.
I seemed to have had the exact same problem... I had placed the projector on top of a small book (to raise the unit), however, did not rest the feet of the projection unit on the book and it overheated and turned off, as a result. (The bottom of the unit was making direct contact with the book which caused it to overheat since not any air was passing through between the two)
After letting it cool for a while and powering it up -- it would usually power off completely for about 15 minutes. After a little thinking, I thought it may be the lamp/bulb and waited a couple of years and bought one online that arrived yesterday.
I installed the new lamp/bulb this morning and it did the same thing. It powered down about a half hour later. Bummer.
I reset the machine to factory defaults and checked to see if it had the 1.03 firmware... It did
Then went through the settings in the setup area and turned off the 'prevent pic screen saver'... Reset the 'lamp hours'
I doubled checked the lamp/bulb installation... Turned it back on -- same thing -- it shut off after about 15 minutes or so... Then unplugged the unit and turned it over and took out the 4 or 5 chassis screws and loosened and took off the side panels and blew onto the fans and circuit board areas and gently pounded the sides to shake anything that shouldn't be there loose and put it back together.
i powered it back on and now it's been working for about 2 hours and 16 minutes!
hi,
Did you rest the lamp hour after replacing the lamp. It is recommended the you have to reset the lamp hour after replacing the lamp. For resetting the lamp hour do the following.
1. Power ON the projector
2. Press the Menu button
3. Select OPTIONS
4. In OPTION menu select Lamp Reset and press the enter button.
(If the lamp hour counter is at the heights level then the projector will turn OFF after some time.)
ok
You may have to reset the bulb hour counter. Go thru the setup menus and see if you can do it from there. Infocus projectors make you jump thru the hoop.
It sounds like it is overheating. Are the fans all working? If so, try opening the casing and blowing all the dust out with a can of air from Staples/Office Depot. If the fans aren't working you may need to replace them.
I had the same problem with very few hours on the lamp. Sent it back to the factory and they said the fan was overheating causing the bulb to shut down. They replaced the fan and the bulb for free under warranty. I noticed before I sent it the projector was putting out an incredible amount of heat. MUCH better after fan replacement.
When i turn the projector on it only comes on four about a minute until the temp lights go amber and it turns off, the fan is working but the air coming out is a little warm. what if anything is making my projector overheat, or is it not heating at all?
