I have it for 5 or more years. It worked great until recently when it turns itself completely. After turning off it won't turn on for some time. Pressing the power button makes click, it gets power, display comes on, and instantly turns off again. After 2-3 or more hrs it turns off when power is pressed, but it can go off, for no reason. Sometimes it might work without problems for days, but it always comes back. I noticed that sometimes when I am operating the DVD remote, LG DVD recorder with resolution upscaling it turns off, like it gets a commands from the DVD remote and turns off, but it turns off also when no one is touching any remote. I live in a single house, so getting some other remote signal, is not very possible. Even if that's the case, why it won't turn on after it goes off? It always needs some time to readjust. Thanks for your time. Any response is appreciated.
Sounds like your receiver has a cold solder joint on the power board at a transistor or capacitor. Not a major repair, however, it will probably run $100 or so to pull it apart, hunt it down and fix the problem. Not sure of your problem with the DVDR. Do you have a "line conditioning, surge protection" unit? Not a Power strip or low end monster surge. Panamax, APC, Furman, make line conditioning surge units that keep your power steady and will shut down in case of voltage fluctuation in both directions. They cost from 200 to 2000 depending on the equipment you are protecting. It is a necessary component to any system. Hope this helps.

The RX-V800 switches the various video signal types separately. Since you are feeding S-Video to the TV the composite (yellow) input from your Wii is not going anywhere. If you cant get S-Video output from the Wii then I'd suggest a simple Composite to S-video adaptor plug ($5 say). It worked for me with a Game Cube. Cheers BJ
Sounds like they centre has configured your speakers to "none". You need to hook it up to a tV or monitor and go through the menu to "speaker settings" and make sure you select either "sml" or "lrg" for the speaker type. Also ensure on the LFE settings that you select either "swoofr" or "both."
give me more details of trouble... let me give you advise if it can be done. 800 does not have industry standard parts mostly by yamaha only or made to order by yamaha. I have the same unit before, i have the manual too.

Hi,
You should try to see, on main board, the ground G2(TP00385), just to make sure if the screw is too tight. Its location on Schematic Diagram (Main) is E8.
All the best,
