SOURCE: Ais and 1920c Furuno chart plotter

n the system setup, under “UNITS” I set BEARING to “MAG” (magnetic). This will cause the unit to display course / bearing information in relation to the Magnetic North and match magnetic compass readings. It is not the same as True North! One has to be careful with this setting. There are a number of areas where the earth's magnetic field is locally disturbed, sometimes very significantly. Your GPS may not account for it. - again, under “UNITS” I set “METRIC”.

SOURCE: My Raymarine C80 CHart plotter won't load.

Check to see if this is a power issue by connecting to shore power and fully charging your batteries overnight with instruments off. While still connected to shore power, with batteries fully charged, turn on C80 navigation system. If the loading screen comes on and does not reset, then try holding down the button immediately to the right of the red power button for at least 3 seconds to see if the system re-boots.

Testimonial: "Factory reset solved the problem. Soft key next to power button worked a treat!"

SOURCE: I just bought a boat with a Raymarine C80 chart

Hi,

Your problem is the 4GB card. The Raymarine C-Series have a problem with their compatability tool and larger CF cards. You should use a card no bigger than 256mb.

The card probably worked in the store because the newer models accept larger cards.

Get an older card from ebay etc and copy your 4gb files onto it and try again. There is more info here: http://raymarine.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/raymarine.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=1042&p_created=1089743435&p_sid=Y9eWB6ek&p_accessibility=0&p_redirect=&p_lva=1042&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX3Jvd19jbnQ9MjYsMjYmcF9wcm9kcz0zNiwzNTIsNDEmcF9jYXRzPTAmcF9wdj0zLjQxJnBfY3Y9JnBfc2VhcmNoX3R5cGU9YW5zd2Vycy5zZWFyY2hfbmwmcF9wYWdlPTEmcF9zZWFyY2hfdGV4dD1zaXplIGNhcmQ*&p_li=&p_topview=1

Hope that helps you out.

How to connect the vhf dsc radio to navman 6500 trackfish

Your VHF needs to be compatible with "seatalk" (Alot are not) Generally the VHF and GPS/plotter/fish finder are two separate units on a boat.

Why don't I see fish on my lowrance elite5 hdi fish locator

Sounds like you do not have your transducer connected.
You will know it is working if you have a bottom sounding. If you have a bottom sounding (depth reading) and it is correct then you may have to fine tune the finder to see the fish.
I have the same finder on my boat. http://njsaltfish.com/index.php/captainsfocus?sid=61

Charting a route on water

Hi, a waypoint is used to mark a point of interest for location purposes only whether it be for fish, hazards or a boat ramp etc. it is not intended to replace common sense. Your navionics card if purchased will show land masses, shallow waters, channel markers and known hazards. Regards Phil.

Lowarance fish finder

Firstly check you connections to your battery or any switches in line are secure and not corroded or damaged. If there are any loose connections then this could possibly be a reason, although unlikely, but its good to check those first anyway.

Next make sure the transducer/power cord is inserted fully into the back of the display unit. Again check for corrosion and good connection here.

The most likely porblem however is a sticky power button. If these are not freely engaging and retracting when pushed, the switch could be arcing causing the unit to turn itself on and off intermittently. You either need to pull the display unit apart and try to remedy the problem (if it is out of warranty and you are happy to do that yourself) or get a professional technician or Lowrance service centre (if still under warranty) to attempt the fix.
