Icemaker not working- red light flashes constantly

First question is does your machine have one of those blinking red light on/off switch in the freezer. If it does and it is constantly blinking red then that may be your issue

Note that the temperature in the freezer must be below 10 degrees F for the icemaker to cycle. The icemaker line is the smaller line (1/4") located in the back of the machine that runs from the valve to the filll tube. To test the valve and icemaker you have to manually advance the ice maker and wait for it to call for water with the 1/4" line disconnected from the valve. You can do this by getting a jumper wire, removing the cover of icemaker, which you jsut grab and pull off, and using the jumper wire insert one end of the wire into the cirle marked "M" and the other in the cicle marked "N". Leave there until you hear a click and sometimes see a little spark behind the modular head wheel. Also if you see ice in the maker that hasn't dumper and the teeth of the icemaker are facing any direction other than two o clock position, the icemaker is bad. Before doing any of the above though check the fill tube to be sure the no ice is blocking water from coming in.. If not, here is a way to test the icemaker out.

The laser , is supposed to blink . This laser , tells the icemaker to stop making ice , when the bin is full . Pour about 2/3 cup of water into the icemaker . If it doesn't dump the cubes into the bin , the icemaker is bad . Or , if there is ice in the bin , which hasn't dumped , the icemaker is bad . If the icemaker dumps the ice ( from water pour ) , then look above the fill cup , and see if the black fill tube is frozen . If so , then replace the water valve and turn the freezer temp down slightly . It will take several days for this fill line inside freezer to thaw . If icemaker dumps , and black tube NOT frozen , replace the water valve . The valve , is where the wall water line connects to on the refrig .

Also, check for a frozen fill line too the ice maker. It's the black rubber tube. Try to squeeze it and see if it's blocked with ice.

Sounds like you need to contact a repair shop.

good sign its flashing , woth door open depress the left side flap oppiste the blinkin light. does the light then go solid red??? i fso its an indication that the electricl eye is operating ok .
theres a screw 1/4 in. along the right side underneath the icemaker itself, youll need to removeit and the cover its holding down. you can then slide the ice maker assy foward and out of machine,There will be another litle tab along loeft side uder ice maker youll need to depress to ppulll unit out. pry off the white cover from front of the ice maker assy itself and have a look at the main gear 2 in. round, is it broken off, or on its way top breaking( sometimes the tabs that hold it on to the ice maker module itself break preventing operation, if this is the case youll need to repalce the ice maker assy.

the refrigerator has a duel water valve, one for the ice-maker and one for the water dispenser. the valve that the ice-maker relies on may be bad, or it could be the ice-maker itself.
another thing that could cause it would be the temperatures in the freezer. the ice-maker will not call for water until it reaches under 15 degrees.

before i would worry about the lights flashing lets pull the front cover off of the icemaker and verify that the drive gear is not broken.

on the bottom of the icemaker is 1 screw. remove that screw then just slide the entire icemaker out of the refrig so that you can access the front cover. if the gear is broken just replace the front motor module pt# 8201515

if the gear is fine then located in the toe grille of your refrig is a tech sheet that will help you troubleshoot red light blinking.

First thing to check is to see if the optics are working properly. This is the red flashing light on right hand side of freezer wall. Close the flipper door, be sure not to block the beam, and the light should go to solid red. If it does then the optics are ok. If it continues to blink then that is your problem. If optics check ok then pull ice maker out and remove the white plastic cover. It just pulls off. Look at the center of the gear wheel and see if one of the plastic tabs is either broken or if they are sort of twisted and touching eachother. If any of these things with the gear have happened then that module will need to be replaced along with the ice maker thermostat. If your not sure how to replace these parts then just replace the whole ice maker. That is much easier and not much more costly.
After changing the parts or the ice maker out follow these steps to start the ice maker thru a cycle. 1. Remove the ice maker from the cradle but leave the harness connected. Remove the front cover from the module. Unplug the refrigerator. Get a small jumper wire with bare ends and jump T and H on the module, leave the jumper in and set the ice maker on the shelf. Close the door. Now plug the refer back in and wait 30 seconds. Open the door and the ice-maker should be cycling. Remove the jumper, put the module cover back on and set it back in the cradle. The fill should take place when the ejector blades reach the 12:00 position. Follow these steps exactly in order
