Cabrio F51 Fault (Stored Fault Code F51)
The Cabrio's F51 fault code flashes on the washing machine's display when there is a motor rotor position sensor (RPS) failure.
Check for good contact at the control Board and at the RPS. Sometimes disconnecting and reconnecting the RPS plug connection several times will clean off corrosion that may be affecting the contacts.
Here is an earlier Fixya answer addressing the query:
I have the f51 code filled up with water and stopped. They are coming today to fix it. Called whirlpool and they are fixing this at their expense. I have the extended warrenty they said they are fixing codes f1 and f51
F51 - This is a motor Rotation Positioning Sensor failure. If this persists you will eventually need to call in a service engineer to repair it as the machine will eventually stop working altogether.
I had the same problem and Whirlpool will not do a recall on these washers. But FINALLY one day I was so tired of it stopping so often in a few minutes that I called Whirlpool and they said that it was a known problem and will be sending someone to replace the curcuit boards at no charge to me.
So get your manual out and call the Whirlpool people so that they can do the same for you!
JUST SPOKE WITH WHIRLPOOL ABOUT THE F-50 CODE. THEY SAID THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND THEY ARE PAYING TO FIX IT. ALSO THE CONTROLL BOARD AND THE RPS SENSOR MUST BE REPLACED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE OWNER MUST CALL WHIRLPOOL, NOT THE TECH, TO GET THEM TO PAY FOR IT. HOPE THIS HELPS.
