You need a software from apple called i-Tunes to manage your song folders on your I pod. You can download the software for free by clicking on the link below. http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Generally its difficult to recover songs from a Flash Drive (or ipod/mp3 player). There is file recovery software available, and generally this will cost. So unless the songs were a bit rare and unique i would recommend that you see if you cant find the songs you lost on the INTERNET. You should just download a copy of iTunes from apple.com for your operating system and then install it. Then you just plug your shuffle in and follow the instructions.
