to do video reset:

when ps3 is in standby mode(red light) press and hold the power button till you hear the second beep then release and that resets the video.

hold power button............beep..............beep.......release, done.

SOURCE: What to do with my Ps3??

Your PS3 auto-adjusted to the HDMI Input cable, so you will need to find somewhere that you can either get an HDMI cable or a HDMI TV, so you can view the screen. Then you can hook up the A/V jacks and go to your Videa and Audio Output Settings and choose them, disabling the HDMI hookup selected. Then you'll be back in business!

Help with insignia 24 inch flat screen? the av channel will not show the channel where i can play my ps3?at?

It sounds like yoru PS3 has stopped handshaking with your tv. It can happen. It's possible your brother disrupted the connection by unplugging the PS3 before it was shut down. You can try turning on the PS3 first, and then turning on the tv, or vice versa. If that doesn't work, you may need to invest in a cheap HDMI splitter, to plug the PS3 into, and then send the signal from the splitter to the TV. It has happened to me with a computer with the same hardware, once with an LED tv, and once with my surround sound receiver, completely out of the blue. You can try switching HDMI cables, sources, doing putting the tv into maintenance mode and resetting the software. If none of that works, your only option may be to use an HDMI splitter. I did extensive research and read numerous reviews before I settled on this model, due to many recommendations:
ViewHD 2 Port 1x2 Powered HDMI Mini Splitter for 1080P & 3D ' Model: VHD-1X2MN3D
It's available on Amazon here:
Amazon com ViewHD 2 Port 1x2 Powered HDMI Mini Splitter for 1080P 3D Model...
Just in case your HDMI cable was damaged when your brother unplugged it, go ahead and get yourself a decent HDMI cable. The Amazon HDMI cables work just fine.

The new AV cable will not fit into the slot in the ps3. Used a regular composite cable prior to trying the new HD cable.

connect the hdmi as normal , then use the composite cable to the headset and in audio output settings enable audio multi out , that will output audio to both the hdmi and composite audio jacks .

I can not get ps3 to show on TV. It turns on, green light in front with blue light with disk in.

you might have it stuck on a different video output e.g HDMI or AV. i had the same problem when i took my ps3 to a friends house mine was stuck on HDMI from my tv and i put it on my friend's tv on AV and it didnt show up i thought my ps3 was broke but when i got it home i realised you have to change it from HDMI to AV through settings on the XMB on display settings. hope this helps

PS3 doesn't work with tv anymore

did you move the ps3 while it was on. If you did the reset for AV should repair both the AV problem and your HDMI as well. Shoot me a message back if it works or doesn't.

Thx

It turns on but nothing happens

all depends what cables you are using.if you are using hdmi it could be that the hdmi format is not supported because it has to be hdmi 2.0 and yes thier is a difference.
If you are using componet cables make sure they are plugged into the correct inputs.
if you are using av cables they could be broke.
if none of these help with the problem then i don't have an anwser for you.

Hello can you help with this error!

When you switch from one cable connection to another (Hdmi to AV etc) you need to reset the PS3 to its default settings. Basically what is happening is, your PS3 is set to HDMI, so when you plug in AV cables it doesn't know it. So you have to reset it. Hook your PS3 up to whatever cables (make sure system is fully off) then hold the front power button down for a few seconds.

Doing this will reset the display settings. You can then go into the XMB (main menu) and choose your connection. Although the PS3 should do this during the start up on its own.

Hope this helps.

New HDMI problem

my brother had this issue with his PS3, he simply went into the settings with the av cable and hooked the hdmi up at the same time and changed the settings from auto to manual.
