I was having the same problem with my Cruisinart COD 4000. and noticed many others with same on this site. I called Cuisinart Service Center, 800-726-0190. I did not have my receipt and of course did not mail in the warranty, but without any question, my coffee maker will be replaced.
I noticed that after removing the face place and by the way it's a
pain in the , well never mind. That there are two sets of prongs on the switch. One is for program activation and the other is to
turn it on. The program activation worked but the unit on side would not work. The one prong was not touching properly so I bent it out more towards the top .I think it is a design flaw and over time the contacts will eventually loose contact. Being spring loaded this works fine until the contacts tend to bend inward. I have notice a few other friends had the same problem with the product and just discarded it. My problem is how the spring goes to allow the coffee filter holders to reset itself.
Verify that the plug has power. Make sure that the GFCI has not tripped and if it has reset it. Try the coffee maker in a different plug outlet...the outlet you are using might be shorted or defective. Otherwise the coffee maker's control board may have shorted out. You could try to dis-assemble the coffee maker and see if it has any removable fuses. Check to see if it is still under warranty or if there are any recalls for this problem and they may repair/replace for free.
