I was having the same problem with my Cruisinart COD 4000. and noticed many others with same on this site. I called Cuisinart Service Center, 800-726-0190. I did not have my receipt and of course did not mail in the warranty, but without any question, my coffee maker will be replaced.

I noticed that after removing the face place and by the way it's a
pain in the , well never mind. That there are two sets of prongs on the switch. One is for program activation and the other is to
turn it on. The program activation worked but the unit on side would not work. The one prong was not touching properly so I bent it out more towards the top .I think it is a design flaw and over time the contacts will eventually loose contact. Being spring loaded this works fine until the contacts tend to bend inward. I have notice a few other friends had the same problem with the product and just discarded it. My problem is how the spring goes to allow the coffee filter holders to reset itself.

Verify that the plug has power. Make sure that the GFCI has not tripped and if it has reset it. Try the coffee maker in a different plug outlet...the outlet you are using might be shorted or defective. Otherwise the coffee maker's control board may have shorted out. You could try to dis-assemble the coffee maker and see if it has any removable fuses. Check to see if it is still under warranty or if there are any recalls for this problem and they may repair/replace for free.

Cuisinart model DCC-690. Water filter for it please?

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble finding replacement water filters for your Cuisinart DCC-690 coffee maker.
After some research, it appears that the DCC-690 model does not have a specific water filter that is designed to fit it. However, Cuisinart does offer a universal water filter that can be used with any of their coffee makers.
The Cuisinart DCC-RWF replacement water filter is a universal filter that is compatible with all Cuisinart coffee makers that have a water filter. It is designed to remove impurities from tap water, such as chlorine, calcium, and other minerals, to improve the taste and quality of your coffee.
You should be able to find this filter on Cuisinart's website, or at a retailer that sells Cuisinart coffee makers and accessories. It is important to note that the filter should be replaced every 60 days, or after brewing 60 pots of coffee, whichever comes first.
I hope this helps!

Our Cuisinart DCC-1200 Coffee maker has been turing off during the brew cycle. We just keep flipping the switch to the ON position but I have no clue why it would be doing this.

Might be a sign of a circuit failure, or that it's not getting the amount of electricity it needs. Does it run along side another power hungry appliance or device? Could also be moisture has entered a section it shouldn't and is shorting somehting ouit.

My two year old Cuisinart 14 cup just started smoking from out of where cord comes out. Is there a recall on this. There are a ton of complaints that they catch on fire

Here is a link to the Cuisinart support site: http://www.cuisinart.com/support/us.html

After unpluging the coffee maker and making sure that no one will attempt to use it please contact Cuisinart to see if the DCC-2200 is on the recall list. If it is not, you should consider installing a new power cord with at least 14 gauge wire....this is assuming that you are comfortable doing this sort of repair. Otherwise, replace the coffee maker! Fires from electrical problems are responsible for too many deaths to take any chances with an appliance that smokes when plugged in!

Machine shuts off during brewing

Hello bean_54806,
This is a really common problem with the cuisinarts. I am most familiar with the DCC-1200, but you may be able to solve the problem. The may be an indication that something is plugged up. Open the top of the unit and in one of the corners you should find a water filter stick or column that is removable. Pull it out and open it up to clean out the clogged up carbon filter in there. (You can later buy a new filter on Amazon.) Clean out the debris from the bottom of the cavity. Replace the stick into the cavity once cleaned. Now it's time to run through a solution of 2 parts water and 1 part vinegar. Do this once or twice with fresh solutions, then with a pot of fresh water. When the filter stick is plugged up the sensor says its time to clean it or shuts the unit down, but most people don't know about this fix. I hope this is helpful to you, bean. Positive feedback is appreciated. Good luck. NormanZ

No electric power when plugged in and turn on switch/cuisinart DC

tried ALL solutions on this & other blogs-even to point of CAREFULLY drilling out plastic to get bit-holder down to the 'MAGIC FASTENER' level and then trying: #10 TORX; ## 7-10 TORX; 'security TORX(with hole in middle) & several other 'secret bits'---ALL TO NO AVAIL !!!!! :0(
then, in SHEER DESPERATION, called Cuisinart @ 800-726-0190 [this is on SAT morning 0915 on 3/28/09] got VERY HELPFUL/KIND/PATIENT rep who was ready to do the " $10 +old one AND $10 for new one" routine, when she said: "Did you try re-plugging into wall socket after 1 hour? That's the re-set time" !!! while she was on the line (they work 'til 1730 EDT on SAT/SUN & 'til 1100 M-F !!!) wife tried this highly-technical/super-secret solution -and- IT #$%^*'ING WORKED !!!!!! ;0) I'm sitting here drinking coffee outta it and posting this solution.
