I've unzipped XPDriver.exe to \windows\temp under win XP. I go to Add Hardware (scanner is either connected or disconnected - tried both), and i put the location \windows\temp in the field "include this location in the search".
I get always the message "The hardware was not installed because the wizard cannot find the necessary software".
I tried many things which i found in the web (including the modification of ps1usd.inf), but nothing helps.
Everything i did is according to mustek installation guide in the web.

Just doble click on the exe it will auomatically installed the driver software don add it the device manually .
This scanner was designed for 95/8/ME - operating systems
The processor in the scanner is driven by DOS commands from the computer.
Your computer is XP which is NTFS system.
When the changer overcame Mustek and other posted cludges that were supposed to convert DOS to NTFS - none worked.
You have one last chance.
Go to My computer /programs/accessories/Program Compatibility Wizard- and rest the system to run as Win 98 for the Mustek software.
If that does not work - New scanner.
