I understand that this laptop was not designed for XP? If that is correct, all aspire 5738G's I have found are Win7 I dare say there is no compatible driver and that is why it doesn't work.

surely you have to but a usb device that you will plug into your computer and it will come woth a driver disc iwhich you have to install the driver and thu, you will be then able to use a bluetooth on you pc.

Most Acer product does not have in-built bluetooth. what they have is the application supporting bluetooth device. The best you can do is to get any external bluetooth device and install it driver as well on your Acer laptop, this will surely work.
