My dv9005us becomes too hot. The GPU goes to 110 C in less than an hour and then shuts the laptop off. I can even put my hands on the desktop.

This is definetely not a software issue. You are facing either:
A) Bad LCD screen or inverter board
These can be replaced quite easily as they are both held in by a number of small screws.
B) GPU Hardware fault
Normally caused by excessive heat. This melts the solder around or in the GPU chip and causes it to malfunction as you described. This can be fixed by painstakingly removing your motherboard and resoldering the GPU chip. It is not garaunteed and getting a new laptop is much easier.
C) (unlikely) Driver issues.
Download the latest drivers for your screen/GPU from the manufacturer.

Try the battery removal/re-install approach. remove battery, hold power sw down for 40 seconds with power cord connected; replace battery. Works for me.
