Why does the kodak p712 camera shuts on and off will not let lens stay out?

Your P712 has the P-series powerswitch problem. Can be solved. Look here: http://www.dpreview.com/search/forums?query=p712+power+switch&forum=1011
Use WD40 or Deoxid to solve it, mostly for the longer duration. If necessary use again.

Hello, Kodak easyshare P712 Camera keeps turning itself on/off when it is in the " on " selection. Battery is fully charged. Started doing it 3 weeks ago and it happens every 2 to 3 seconds. Has this...

Hello

The problem is that the lens has become stuck in the barrel. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.

Use these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.

Firstly , try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.

Try holding the shutter button while switching on the camera.

Look at the lens , and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).

Try gently pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.

Another way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the camera is enough to get things going again.

Try hitting your camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of your hand.

Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair center for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to replace the camera.

If it is still under warranty I would suggest you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.

You can also have a look at THIS link.

Hope the advise is useful. please do not hesitate to let me know if you need any further assistance.

Regards
Andrea

Easyshare P712 LCD screen will not come on no matter what I do!

There is a switch on the camera itself that can switch the LCD on and off.
If this doesn't work, unfortunantly KODAK no longer repairs this model any longer. Therefor the only alternative is a Trade up.

Shutdown suddenly

. Make sure you will install a new or fully charged battery/batteries into your camera. Please use lithium batteries Ni-Mh or rechargeable Batteries (2000 M.Amp or higher).
2. Clean the battery contacts.
a. Remove the battery/batteries and the memory card from your camera, then wipe the battery contacts with a soft, clean cloth.
b. Reinstall the battery/batteries into your camera
3. Turn on your camera without the memory card.

If this doesn't solve the problem please note that due to spare part shortage this model is no longer repaired. Instead KODAK offers a trade up option where you will have the opportunity to trade up to a newer model 25-30% cheaper than the market price.

KODAK M863 LENS STUCK

Here's what I did...Mine had the lens stuck out and would not power on. Just a green blinking for a second or two. Well, I tried twisting the lens ring closest to the camera while hitting the power button. It's kinda tricky to do...BUT, just keep at it. Mine was a $1 resale shop "find" and now it works. This worked for me. Maybe it will help you!
