Make sure the Lexmark OCR scan software (used for scanning documents for editing) is installed on your computer. The scan software is available only on the installation disc that came with your printer. No downloadable driver is available in the Lexmark website. Just insert the install disc into your hard drive to install the additional software on your computer.

Scanning a document using your Lexmark printer requires the Lexmark OCR scan software installed on your computer. A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Follow the simple steps below:

1. Disconnect your printer from your computer.
2. Reboot your computer.
3. Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it.
4. When the printer turns on, reconnect it into your computer.
5. Try to scan again.

You can also re-install or update your Lexmark X2670 printer driver by visiting the Lexmark website at http://bit.ly/hTPEL5. Also, if you are scanning a document for editing, make sure to install the Lexmark OCR scan software. The scan software can only be installed using the installation disc that came with your printer. If you lost the disc, please contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for additional assistance.

If you printer hasn't a built-in wireless connection and if you haven't a wireless router then -
You need a wireless router plus print server. Connect this print server to the wireless router with a LAN cable. Then the printer is then connected to the print server's printer port.
The laptop's wireless card is then configured with the router's wireless settings.
The laptop is then installed with the printer driver and the printer port needs to be changed/configured with the print server's IP address.
ALTERNATELY
If the printer is connected to a desktop computer on your home LAN and it is also connected to your wireless router. Then you can set this printer as A Shared Printer on your desktop computer, but this desktop computer and the printer has to be powered up for the laptop to print to the printer.

Hello. Here's the button you need to press on the printer control panel to scan to computer(see image below).


For additional information on how to scan, here's the User's Guide (Lexmark X2500, X2550, X2570, X2580). Also, make sure that the scan software is already installed in the computer by using the installation cd. Hope this helps. If you need more assistance, leave a comment and I'll get back to it. Just click on the appropriate driver. For Win 7 and Vista, you will use the drivers in the OS. This will limit some of the functions (a few of the buttons on the printer will not start the desired operation on the computer). You will need to initiate these from the computer. (Scanning has to be started on the computer. Read the above for additional details. In Win7 both Paint and Windows Fax and Scan will acquire scans.)

1. Position the document on your scanner.
2. On the File menu, click Scan New Document.
3. In the Scan New Document dialog box, select the options you want.
   • To select additional scanning options, click Preset options, and then click either Create new preset or Edit selected preset.
   • If you want to scan a double-sided page, select the Original is double sided check box.
4. Click Scan.If you selected the Original is double sided check box, the Scan New Documentdialog box reappears as necessary.
   
5. If you selected the Original is double sided check box or the Prompt for additional pagescheck box, click Done to save the file after the last page is scanned.
   

Note By default, OCR is performed automatically when you scan documents. To turn off this feature, click Scan New Document on the File menu, and then click eitherCreate new preset or Edit selected preset. On the Processing tab of the Preset Options dialog box, clear the Use OCR to recognize the text of the scanned imagecheck box.

Please perform the steps given below to scan multiple pages to a single PDF file.

NOTE: Before performing the steps please make sure that Adobe Reader is installed on your computer. If not installed then goto www.adobe.com and install Adobe Reader.

1. Open HP Solution Center.
2. Click on Settings.
3. Click on Scan Settings.
4. Click on Scan Preferences and Select the option 'Prompt for additional scans when preview is turned off'.
5. Click on OK to apply changes.
   
6. Now Click on Home and click on scan Document
7. Select Document to File under scan shortcuts.
8. Uncheck the option Preview Scan at right bottom of the scan window.
9. Now Click on scan to scan document.
10. When prompted for additional scan place the another document on scanner glass or ADF and Click on Scan.
11. After scanning is complete Click on Finish to save the scanned document
12. To Locate the scanned document (PDF) goto My Documents folder and Open My scans folder.
