Was working fine now when I try to print it says "service error 6A00. Click cancel, then OK". I have done this several times, rebooted, turned printer off and on, and I can't clear it. The alarm light keeps flashing and I hit OK and I cannot clear the problem.

Call Canon find out where & take it or send the unit UPS to the Authorized Repair Facility.
You will NOT be able to resolve the problem yourself.
Sorry for the bad news.

Hi
Error 6A00
The 6A00 is a Canon generic code for paper path jam.

Solution 1:
Move the printhead carriage back and forth a few times.

Solution 2:
Check the purge unit: Moving the print head assembly will not clear a purge unit if its jammed with paper, paper clips, push pins, screws, cookie crisp, flower bud pods or the like.

Solution 3:
Press the ink pads down in the purge unit.

Hello
The reboot of the pc along with a unplug of the printer should clear the printing. Do you have several printers listed to print to and did you print to the wrong one perhaps.
You say the unit would print from the scanner which is sort of odd as well. My scanner prints but only cause it is hooked to the PC.
there will be a large additional charge :-)

Error code 6A00 what is it how do you fix it? this is what is displayed on the printer. I had a paperjam last night. I removed the paper and it worked ok. This morning it displayed this error message and...

6A00 is AP position error.
First, make sure there is no paper jam anywhere in the machine.. look inside, rear, where the paper tray (output) is, etc to see if you find any shreds or torn paper that may have gotten stuck and you didn't see.Look carefully in the zone of Purge unit, using flashlight in the right side on printer. If this not help your printer need service.

Last week i tried to print but it didn't work and appeared 5100 error. i have the pixma mp 170 printer... i don't know how i can fix it

Hello

The manual states that the error code 5100 is a result of:

Service error 5100 is displayed

Cause: Movement of the FINE Cartridge Holder is blocked.
Action: Clear the paper jam or foreign object that is preventing the FINE Cartridge Holder from moving, cancel printing from your computer, then turn OFF the machine and turn it back ON again.
---
You might see something blocking the printer head, check inside to see if there is a paper jam, staple, or some other object blocking the print head.

If this does not work, try resetting the device:

  1. Turn the printer off.
  2. Hold the button Resume / Cancel (red triangle in the circle), click POWER - indicator lights green.
  3. Release the button Resume / Cancel, keeping POWER.
  4. Click Resume / Cancel 2 times, keeping POWER, and then release all the buttons.
  5. When the indicator light Green - click Resume / Cancel 4 times!
  6. Turn the printer off button POWER.
Hope this can help you.

Best regards
Andrea
