Windows doesn't detect Ethernet connected devices. You could hook up a dozen Ethernet Modems and Windows would not see any of them, but they all would work fine using TCP/IP. It is not like you installed the DSL Modem/Router inside the case of the PC. You do know how Ethernet works, right? The only driver needed is the correct one for your Ethernet card, but that comes the Ethernet Card or the Motherboard Drivers CD for onboard Ethernet.
