I have an Acer Aspire 5720Z. The microphone will not work for more than about 5 minutes when I use my webcam. After that, the other person can not hear me. I bought an external microphone and I plugged it in but that doesn't seem to be working either and it doesn't show up under Microphones in the sound control panel. HELP!
The fact that your internal mic works and then goes out, is more likelly a drivers problem.
I would run your device manager with all external devices disconnected and look for flags.
If you have a device problem, it will show up here.
Remove and flags and allow your operating system to reload drivers after a reboot.
If this has not fixed your problem, try to boot into safe mode and check your internal sound devices their. Sounds like a driver conflect.
