Your hard drive has failed to load.In the bios did it show the hard drive? Can you hear the hard drive?Do you hear a clicking sound? The are signs that the drive is failing.Try to boot to a windows cd, see if this will allow you to see the hard drive. If you can chances are you might be able to get your data from the drive.Once you do so replace the drive.
Good luck

This error message could be caused by the laptop not detecting the hard drive. Check the BIOS to see if it detects the hard disk If not the hard disk may be faulty or needs reseating. If the hard disk is faulty it needs to be replaced and Windows installed on the new hard disk. A virus program may have infected the computer and removed or changed some system files - in this case Windows needs to be repaired OR Windows re-installed - this is the best option.
Your computer is not seeing the harddrive.....Probally isn't working anymore. You need to take youe pc to a certified repair shop and have your harddrive tested.
Turn it all the off. Then pull the hard drive out and put it back in again. Now, put your system disk (Win XP?) into the drive and turn the laptop on. It should do something else now. I have had this happen on several laptops I have rebuilt and it takes patience to get them started sometimes.... I have managed to load XP onto all of them eventually!
most of the time that problem is from your hard drive... some there is a bad sector or cluster soon it will not function...!! better replace your hardrive or try to reformat your hard drive ..... this are the best thing you do..
