Kitchenaid oven won't pre-heat. Enter the temp on the touch screen e.g. 350 and press the start button. After about 15 seconds the touchscreen readout changes from "350" to "Lo" and the oven does not heat at all
This is a failed oven temp sensor. the control is not receiving a proper resistance signal from this sensor at this time. the control will shut down the unit if this is the issue. check the oven temp sensors connections form the control to the sensor housing for loose or worn contacts, if the wiring is ok, replace the temp sensor.
Here is a way to rule out a control issue. By using a ohm meter, check for resistance in the temp sensor. use the meter clips and attach them to the sensor leds. If you can register a proper resistance signal, replace the control(ERC or Clock)Here is a way to rule out a control issue. you neglected to mention the model this is , but most of the ovens made by them , when switched to bake , 1st show the temp you adjust then after thrirty seconds or so show the actual temp of oven (this number will change) the set temp function can be adjusted to anything in the ovens heat range 100-450) using the arrow keys anytime in the bake cycle , just touching a arrow key will change display to set temp screen , from actual temp display
This is what I used on my Kitchenaid Superba maybe it will work on yours also.
Hold the "oven light" then push the "CLEAN" button and then the "START" button. Wait until "Door Locked" shows on screen. Press "Cancel/Off" (Upper Oven) wait until "Door Locked" turns off. The oven F5 E1 is now fixed.
It is a problem with neither of the two it is the sensor reads the oven temp and shuts off the heating element when it is reached, it is called the thermal probe or thermostat.
This Error indicates
a loose/broken wire on the oven temp sensor or the oven temp. sensor itself is
bad and should be replaced. To solve this issue test the oven temp. sensor, it
should read between 1080-1120 ohms, if the rating is more then that and the door
appears to be closing fine then it is the control board that is bad and should
be replaced. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

Good Evening!
This is a common problem that Ledgestone Technologies and Fixyourboard.com can solve. The touchpad on your oven has failed and will need to be replaced. Read more about the failure and solution below. Message us if you have any questions! [email protected]
Hello & Welcome to FixYa This indicates an open/shorted oven temperature sensor and to solve this problem the sensor needs replacement. If you wan to be sure before replacing the sensor then you can test it with a voltmeter for around 1100ohms....if it reads more then this then it needs replacement however, if the reading is around or less then 1100ohms then it is the control board that needs replacement. Please get back to me if you have any other questions. Kevin
yes it is normal . but i know your not the first to think its not , todays ovens are so tight , it only takes 10 seconds of heat to keep them at proper temp . it used to be that ovens where kept at a 3 degree sweep that is set at 350 turn on and up to 353 then off ,cool down to 350 and back on . this was a longer time off and a longer time on topday we keep to 1 degree ! 350 on to 351 off to 350 on and so on ....... so short berst of heat make for a more even oven ........ but i know i hate it too ! good luck
had same problem, had computer checked out by profesisonal. Was ok. But it seems it is the control pad that clean cycle screws up. Try this (thanks to my wife and her experimental prowess). 1. turn oven on to custom broil. 2. push down temp button to 375. 3. press bake button. 4. You should now have up or down temp. We think you have to get past pre heat cycle in order for this to work. But work it does.
