If you have everything connected properly, then it wont necessarily utilize ALL of the speakers, unless you have a true 7.1 signal coming in. is it using optical or coaxial? make sure that the options on the receiver are set right......the rears on 5.1 and 7.1 dont work unless they are told to by the receiver....and the signal coming in from the external source ( dvd player, ps2, ps3, xbox....) tell the receiver what it is going to need, in order to utilize the full signal. everything is labeled, and it sounds like you know what you're doing, when it comes to hooking this up, which is always good. it sounds to me, like something isnt configured properly, so i would start there. it may take a while, but you get the idea.....
To reset the AV receiver to its factory defaults, turn it on and, while holding down the [Video 1] button, press the [Standby/On] button. "Clear" will appear on the display and the AV receiver will enter Standby mode.
