I believe if you go ahead and hook the wire up to the controller and the Xbox, it will auto sync that controller so next time you wont have to use the wire. At least that will work for the Xbox brand controllers.
On charging, take the battery pack (or regular batteries, which ever you use) out and clean the contacts with a soft brass brush (Wal-mart carries them in the gun cleaning kits) , do the same for the battery pack

If your wireless controllers wont sync to your xbox, it could be one of 2 things.

assuming your batteries are fully charged, and that you're using a certified xbox controller, it could be that the controller itself. it is really rare that the wireless receiver inside the xbox itself, goes out, but soemtimes, it happens.

the easiest thing or you to do would be to either pick up an after market controller, or another certified controller, and see if they'll work. if you try other controllers, and they STILL dont work, verify that your system settings are correct, or are set to default, and make sure that your xbox isnt sitting close to something that could be interfering with the signal....like a wireless router for example

if this doesnt work, then it's a problem with the xbox, and you should send it back to the service repair center.

MY CONTROLLER WONT CNNCT TO MY XBOX EVEN WEN I SYNC IT . ITS BRAND NEW.

You might have to replace the batteries in the controller, as if the battery life is low the controller will have issues syncing to the xbox 360. Just in cause, To sync the controller to the xbox 360, you must turn on the controller using the xbox guide button and then press the Wireless Sync button right next to the Controller Charging Port. Then you must press the sync button on the xbox 360. You must do this semi-quickly, or the sync process will not complete.
Lastly, You also might have a faulty controller, I suggest you go back to the store you got it from and see if they will replace the faulty controller.

Why wont my wireless controler connect with my xbox 360?

Make sure you are pressing the sync button on the controller as well as the sync button on the xbox.
If this does not work you may have to purchase a new controller.

Your controller is defective. Take it back to the store and get a new one. That happens once in a while. There is nothing you can do about it.

Game loads okay but controller does not work. controller is brand new. lights work on controller but can not ply any games

If the controller is brand new, you need to Sync it with your XBox 360.

Turn on your 360 using the button on the console.
Turn on the controller by holding the X button in the middle.

With both on, click the SYNC button on the xbox 360.
Then click the SYNC button on the Controller.

The green ring around both should flash a few times, then the upper left quadrant should light up on both meaning it's Sync'd.

Enjoy.

Cant sync my wireless guitar to the xbox

Step one: Hold the Xbox button on the controller for 5 seconds
Step two: click the connect button on the xbox.
Step three: Hold the connect button on the controller for 5 seconds.

If they are not broken, this should work. This is the PROPER way to connect ANY wireless controller.

Xbox 360 wireless controller not connecting.

it sounds like your controller keeps losing sync with the 360.

- turn them both off
- turn on the 360 with the power button on the console
- wait for it to start up, then press the sync button next to the usb flap on front.
- then press the sync button on the controller (by the recharge connection slot)

That should reset it.
