Could be a bad transformer on the power supply or a bad drive. You could check the voltage coming from the transformer and verify that it is the proper voltage using a fluke meter. You could also dis-assemble the hard drive housing and try installing it in the computer and check if it is working. If you install it in the computer and the drive is not found then the drive is probably bad. If the drive works in the computer then get a new transformer.

I connect my Lacie d2 quadra to my mac with firewire 800 and it works fine, but when I connect the same hard disk with esata, it appears on the desktop screen, but the blue light won´t stop...

Hello.
I have had simular problems with one of these. It can be due to the drive not starting up or shutting down properly or a powers issue.
I woud recomend dissconecting all leads from the back of the hard drive.
Now plug in just the mains power. Now turn the drive on and let it boot up until the light stops flashing. Let it stay constant for a while, now press the power/led button to let it shut down properly on it's own.
Now turn of your mac. with the hard drive still OFF, connect the fire wire to you're mac and HD. Now power up the Mac. If the HD does not power up on it's own, turn it on now.
Hopefully all should be ok now.
If not, try to test it on a PC. It may sound strange, but it can make a difference. Now do all the above again.
Any Luck?
Ok another thing is to try a psu. Hopefully you know someone with a drive you can ask to test their power supply with.. Try all of the above things again? Any joy? if it all workd ok with their power supply and not your's, your mains transformer is bust. It's caused by a capcitor that blows (quite common). If your drive is recent, you may be able to harrass Lacie for a new one, if not I managed to get a Lacie psu from ebay for around £25.00+p&p on ebay.
A final thing to check is what firewire version your mac is against the firwire version of the lacie. Sometimes this can give issues.
Hope this helps.

Have a HP m7470n. The green power light in the back is constantly on. The power button flashes blue and orange (~3 seconds each). The computer wont turn on. When I unplug the cord and plug it back in, the...

In my case it turned out to be a weak power supply. It would work sometimes and not others. If stone cold, it would not boot. If I unplugged 1 thing, like the hard drive or the CD Roms, it would boot. Tested the old power suppy and it seemed to pass. But once I connected a new power supply, the computer has worked fine ever since.

My WD Elements 640GB Wont turn on.

I had the same problem. I fixed this by leaving the power supply connected with the wall socket for about 15 minutes, without connecting it to the external hdd. After that I connected the power supply with the external hdd and it worked perfectly. I hope this helps for you too!

External hard drive wrong power supply was plugged in

The power circuits in the external hard drive enclosure may have burnt out or the fuse may have blown. Its unlikely your hard-disk is itself damaged.
You may remove the actual hard-disk from the enclosure and put it in another and access the data.
All the best!
