Broken Sensor Sterling Touch Immobiliser

I have broken the dash mounted immobiliser touch sensor on my Hilux Surf.
It is a Sterling 'Touch' model. I seem to note that the transponder end has three wires on a multiplug (red black & blue) whilst at the dash end there are four (red, black, & TWO blues). Do you have a wiring diagram to explain the missing blue wire?

There are 4 wires going to the touch pad unit which has an LED in it. The unit has 4 pins (or legs) to which the wires must be soldered. As you say, there are two blue wires plus a red and also a black - although as you also correctly observe, only three wires are present (blue, red and black) in the connector at the other end of the loom which plugs into the control module.

The blue simply splits two ways within the loom, and these are earths. The black carries a pulsing voltage to drive the LED, and the red (which should measure a constant 5v on a voltmeter) is an input which senses when a key is touched on the pad.

Use a continuity tester or ohmmeter to establish which of the four pins on the touch unit connects to the CENTRE pin of the touchpad. Solder the RED wire to this pin. (Best to start by putting some heat shrink up the wire as the pins on the touch unit are quite close together and there's not much to stop them touching.)

Again using the continuity tester (or ohmmeter) establish which of the remaining three pins goes to the OUTER ring of the touchpad. To this, solder one of the BLUE wires - it doesn't matter which one. You must however get the wires to the touchpad the correct way around in order for the key to be read.

You're now left with one BLACK and one BLUE wire which drive the LED, and two pins on the unit which have no connections. The LED will only light when you get these the correct way around. You will not do no harm if you connect them the wrong way round - the LED will simply remain unlit.

One you have soldered the BLUE and the BLACK wires in place so the LED is flashing, simply test your work by touching a key on the touchpad. If all is well, the LED will light continuously for a period and it should be possible to start the car.

Ranger 2.2 diesel turbo. Where can I get a wiring diagram for the engine?

run the fault codes
it may be a broken cam shaft , cam/crank position sensors or immobiliser not operational
don't touch the wiring until you have the fault codes.

Why the car shutoff while driving

First thing to check is that the cam shaft is still turning ( broken timing belt/ chain). Check battery terminals are clean and tight as a broken circuit will shut down the immobiliser . Run fault codes to check for sensor problems.

A small nob which deactivates the immobiliser in my Daewoo 2001 nubira has broken in to poeces. Can some one help me start the car by bypassing the immobiliser?

if that knob has 2 wires going to it u can join the 2 wires together or touch them together to deactivate immobiliser , the knob is a switch that either connects the 2 wires or disconnects them when pushed ,if there are more than 2 wires i would need to know the colours and how many there are

HELP i have a 2000 model hyundai lantra sportswagon which is fitted with an immobiliser and both remotes are broken. How can i bypass the immobiliser???

theres a socket you can use to reset the immobilizer. follow the steering shaft down, then under the dash, you will find the socket. plug the key switch with the button facing away from you, while the ignition is switched on.I'm pretty sure it doesnt matter if the remote is broken or not, as it just bridges the circuit, allowing you to start the car. hope this helps..

Cobra 8510 immobiliser fitted to my ford excort rs turbo

Wheelsnboots

When you say the Immobiliser is broken... Do you mean the touch key?
The 8510 touch key is prone to the internal contacts failing. If you open the case up and reconnect it then you should be able to disarm the immobiliser
You should have two touch keys so try your spare on first.
Be warned... You will need 1 working touch key to program a spare or the system will lock out and will need replacing

Hope this helps!

As for Sutty

Sounds like the system has lost power if the LED is not flashing. Have you made sure cars the battery is not flat?
