I have been asked to help a friend find out how to prepare a family file report. I have Edition 7 manual but he has a later edition of the program and I am not sure what changes there might be on directions that I should give him.

If you are using Windows 7, try the compatibility mode Right Clic (use the right button of your mouse )on the execyute file EX: setup.exe or Install.EXE or witch ever the file that start your program first and chose "Property" In that box clic on the compatibility tab tic the box execute this program.... to activate the scroling menu drop it down and chose the compatibility that your program required (Windows XP or VISTA, clic at the botton "Privilege" "Exécute this program as an Administrator Clic apply and clic ok try to install again

select the operating system then
select DRIVERS in select download type.
then download the sound drivers. and install.

You can try version 15 in compatibility mode:

Troubleshoot Compatibility
This can help with some (but not all) programs/drivers:
1) Uninstall the program if it's already installed. Then when you install/reinstall it instead of double clicking on the install file right click it and select "Troubleshoot Compatibility"
2) Then click "Try Recommended Settings" and in the next window click "Start the Program" to install it.
3) After it installs see if it works correctly. Please note - some programs may not be able to run in Windows 7.

with can open those files.

About only thing you can legally do is contact Dell if you have registered your computer with them and ask for it. They will ask you some information and if it matches they might be able to give you the one you registered. If you haven't then nothing you can really do. Except an illegal method would be ask you friends or family if they have "windows home edition" installed on their computer and if they know the key. As long as its "windows home edition" it should work. Again the 2nd part is against copy-write laws.

Without that key, there is not much you can do, either buy it again or ask someone for a key. Just google it!
