Some recoders are picky about media used - Try to use another blank maybe you have a bad disc. I've had so much **** from those SONY DVD+RW - if it still spits it - then change media - Use the verbatim re-writeable instead, the 4x, they are much better than the sony ****.

I gather from your negative rating that it did not work for you - Did you try ANOTHER blank media ? Maybe you have a particular disc that is bad, dust, etc.... Like I said, DVD recorders use sometimes subpar optical drives, and are not as tolerant as the ones you buy for your computer - plus they use outdated firmware also that do not get as much frequent updates. The reason I recommended you try other media is to rule out recorder problems. If it does so with every brand of media you throw at it, you have a defective unit - I have experience with DVD recorders and I've used Samsung recorders and I've had load of problems with them in the past with disc recording and formatting - one unit would simply refuse to use ANY disc I threw at it and I had to return it - Now using a Sony DVD-Recorder with 160GB HDD and works like a charm.

My samsung vr357 will not load a disc

The laser lens needs cleaning . You can try a DVD cleaning disk from Target or Walmart . If that doesnt work , the player will need to be opened and manually cleaned

I used ez record to copy a vhs tape to a DVD-R disk. at the end of the tape I pushed the open/close button but the disk did not finalize. We have had the unit for several years but I have never been able...

If you are using Nero, just put in your unfinalised dvd.
open nero and select the "Burn" tab from the options.
Now click on the "Finalise DVD" checkbox.
Now click on Burn, and it will finalise the dvd.
There is a corresponding Tab on most recording programs.
You really need to get another, better, burner than EZ. I nearly always use UltraISO, it has a built in burner, based on Nero, and just works. Another one is CopytoDVD... it is great.
Also I find it is better to NOT use those horrid re-recordable discs.

My samsung dvd-vr357 kicks out the disk after you put it in i have tried two different cleaners neither worked

FIrst of all there is no stepper motor in this unit. The loading mechanism is not completing its cycle and is ejecting the DVD. This could be as simple as a belt slipping duiring the loading process. Cleaners will not help in this case. How old is the unit? A replacement belt should not cost more than $5. Figure a minor labor rate at a service shop for the total repair cost.

How to record ?

I don't know a whole lot about electronic equipment, but I've never seen anything connected in so many ways at the same time. Maybe the antenna and one other type of connection. The different signals from all the connections are probably confusing each other. I would try one connection at a time to see if the problem improves. Good Luck.

Backup my vhs tapes

First hook up the VR357 to the TV with any cable ..
Then put a VCR tape into the VHS player.. get the tape to where you want to start the recording and press stop.
Then put a blank DVD in (-r or -rw is the best)
Then press VCR on the remote
Then press TO DVD on remote
you will see the word COPY come up on the DVD player and the VHS tape will start to play.
When you are done just press stop twice. and you will get a message that says "updating information to disk"
