I have an "ALGE Timy" timing computer connected to a Samsung STP-103 printer. Both units use ASCII 1 start, no parity, 8 data,1 stopbit.
Yet when printing each line of information (which is set to 21 characters) the print carries on without starting on a new line (like it has not seen the stop bit, tnnew line). I have tried changing the dip switch on the back of the 103 which give two options for how many characters per line but neither works correctly only the character spacing changes.
Your suggestions.
Cheers
Tony
Wow, serial communications still in use. Naturally, both units have to use the exact same protocol N81 for instance, so make certain the sending unit is set to the same, then check the cable to verify that the appropriate pins are connected and or crossed. I believe your symptoms can be caused by using hardware handshake and having pins 6,8,20 (20 only if a 25pin connector) shorted on the printer end. If possible, you can try switching both devices to software handshake.

Sounds like driver problems. Cant solve problems without details like what opperating system, what driver, how it the printer attached, usb, paralel, network? Will it print a test page from the driver ok?

If the problem is only with Black output you need to change the Black developer of the Imaging Unit, Else you need to refer to the Authorised Service center. Else you may change the complete imaging unit by yourself.
