I'm getting an H03 error code. Do you know how I fix it?
I experienced the same dreaded H03 error code recently. The fix was simple:
Open the DVD lid. In the center is the black plastic spindle. To the right of the spindle is the laser reader which slides from side to side.
When my player was in error mode, the laser reader was stuck in the far right position on the track. To fix the problem, gently, but firmly push the laser reader to the right until it clicks in to proper position. For mine, I pushed it to the right about an eighth of an inch before it clicked.
Insert a disc, and turn the player on. This should fix the problem, at least it did with mine.
We encountered Error Code H03 and after seeing many solutions relating this error to a stuck laser reader, I began to check the travel of my laser reader which moves on a threaded spindle track that is only accessible by opening up the back of the DVD player housing.
Open the DVD lid. In the center is the black plastic spindle. To the right of the spindle is the laser reader which moves from side to side.
I unscrewed the many visible screws in the bottom part of the DVD housing and carefully opened it up. you can then see the threaded spindle that moves the laser reader when turned. In my case, the laser reader was jammed after a certain point of travel. I blew high pressure air from a can of compressed air (Dust & Lint Remover for keyboards) all over the vicinity of the laser reader assembly and a broken piece of plastic came out. Happily, the laser reader could travel freely and completely both left and right as I rolled the threaded spindle. To test if the Error H03 problem has been resolved, I replaced the bottom housing and connected the battery to turn the DVD on. Eureka! There was no Error H03 and the unit appeared to work as good as new. I then installed the many screws and declared mission successfully completed. Fortunately, the little broken piece of plastic, which I discarded, doesn't seem to affect any of the DVD's functions, at least up to now.
All I did is follow the advise here...my laser reader next tothe spindle was not stuck to the right but used my finger to move it ..it didnot budge...gave it a couple of strong pushs with my index finger and looks like it unjammed hte guide ot the laser reader and now it works..what i suspect is that the laser reader gets stuck on the guide rails...my suggestestion is to use a compressed ait can to spray aroung the region and keep it clean for future operations..Good luck...
Take the bottom part off by taking out all the little teeny tiny screws all over the backside (about 10), take a tiny flat head screwdriver and push it in between the upper and bottom shell, and slowly pry it apart from each other. Once it is opened, it will still be held together by one wide flat (not sure what this was) wire looking thing. There is a middle part (silver and black) that comes separated,It has the lens, spindles, and track for the cd, but still hangs on by more of those wire things (a white and a goldish one) There are two tiny spindles on the underneath, one black, one white if you move one of them w/ a Flathead screwdriver, the other one will roll making the square (looks like a reader with lens) go from side to side. I cleaned the two spindles, first by shooting air into it, then by using the screwdriver to take out some of the gook. I also blew air cleaning the mother board. You can test it by putting it back together aside from the screws and putting in a cd, testing the menus, ff and rewind. If all seems well, it should be fixed. Im not sure if cleaning out the gook, or airdusting it did the job, or it couldve been both, but i have a feeling it was the gook not letting the reader move.
Panasonic DVD-LS91 - Error 03 message. Got the message during a 6 hour flight with 3 year old. Argh! The manual said to take it to the service center.
I moved the laser reader using a flat butter knife - no screwdriver available as instructed on this site. It WORKED! The flight home should go smoother. Thank you.
Moved laser head to right. Fixed problem. Thanks so much
I just used this advice on my panasonic dvd/cd portable player and it worked immediately!! I had even contacted panasonic and they had me push buttons which didn't work, then told me it would be $140 to repair my unit!!! I found your answer and tried it and it worked!!! Thank you for saving me big bucks!!

Just wanted to thank you for the solution to my H03 problem. The lense must have become stuck to the far left of the spindle. Good job!
Thats works to me thanks
Thanks for the solution. I moved the laser all the way to the right and that did not fix the problem so I moved the the laser all the way to the left. Still did not fix it so I tried moving the laser back to the right with the power off and it now works.

What can I do
I also have the same identical problem....I wonder if the money I spent for this was really worth it...It seems like these things are plagued with problems...
My panasonic dvd player was also giving me the H03 error. I follwed the other person's advice, and pushed the laser reader to the left, and problem fixed! This saved us from a potentially disastrous road trip with three little ones, thanks!!
YES!!!!--my son was thrilled that his dvd player is now working-
His was stuck far left next to the spindle, I took a small flathead screwdriver
and clicked it one click put the disc in----Now I'm the hero!

I have the SPectroniq PD-3000. When I put a dvd in to load, the drawn closes and it gives the "load" prompt for a long time and then gives a "error" reading. On my tv (hdmi) I get a "bad disk" signal. What can I do?>
I followed the instruction above.. Its a bit hard to move the reader but must push carefully... Cheers... it really worked for now :)
