We have a 11 yr old RC P50830 that worked fine until a couple of years ago when the convergence went on it. Had it repaired but then went again a couple of weeks ago. Tried to turn it on the other day and there was no picture but there was no a high pitch "popping" like a machine gun coming from the bottom right area of the box. Any idea what's wrong and how expensive it might be to repair? Maybe it's not even worth repairing with the cost of tv's these days? Any advice would be most helpful! Thanks!!
The high pitch popping that you are hearing is arcing in the high voltage circuit. I would not suggest a repair on a set that is this old. Convergence repair plus a high voltage problem could run around $500-$600. But it is your call on the repair, I can only advise.
