Press and Hold Power button on the TV for 5 seconds [or] disconnect the AC cord from wall socket.
TV volume down and OK on the remote only does a basic IC self check. It do not rest the TV. It do not clear channel programmed settings, picture settings, channel labels, lock settings or password. Using this method, it shows the units' firmware version [Peaks 1.050 and GenX 1.00] and it checks the IC communications only. This is more useful to identify the firmware version, without having to decode the info in the setup menu about version/screen.

The self-test should at least print out a set of either a solid black or solid color bars, if not both (if you have a printer with both color and black installed simultaneously). Should this test fail, please try it again without cartridges installed. If the self-test still fails to take paper in and make sounds like the carrier is moving across the paper, this is a hardware issue, and the printer will require service. If the self-test completes without any cartridges installed, run the self-test again with only a color cartridge installed (If you have both black and color cartridges, after this test, run the test again with just the black cartridge installed). If you find that either cartridge causes the self-test to fail, please let us know.
If the self-test prints, but has lines or smudges or other print quality issues, please let us know. This includes any print quality issues - we need to know if the problems you have with your black or color are based in the printer, or communications with your computer, or the computer's software.
If the self-test prints your test bar(s) clearly, the printer hardware is not at fault.

Just solved my problem. Found out that the down volume button must have been sticking. Tapped on it a number of times and finally the volume bar went off and then the up volume worked fine. Looks like the down volume button on front panel is intermittently getting stuck. This happened last year but went away before I could figure it out. Maybe going to try and blow some compressed air in button socket.
Double click on the little speaker icon down by the time on the taskbar (bottom right hand corner of screen usually). That will bring up the mixer, make sure Master isn't on mute, or turned all the way down with the on-screen volume bar.
is it showing it turn its self up on the tv by the bars or is the sound just getting louder by itself
is your remote a learning remote and does your tv have a preset volume that when turned on its to goto
if showing by bars one of the buttons on your remote is stuck or needs cleaning and
quite possibly getting an outside frequency thats interfering with your remote frequency
but if no bars are showing the service provider company i noticed my self there tv programs are flauxing in sound for some reason this to me gets annoying
well depends on how far it turns the volume down as to what the cause is and if the volume bar on screen display comes on when the vol. goes down. if it just goes down a little you probably have the "smart sound" setting turned on in the audio menu turn it off and see if prob. goes away. if the vol. bar comes on the screen whenever the vol. goes down the you most likely have a bad button on your front panel and it doesn't have to be the vol. down button. it you think it is the button it would need solder work to be changed most likely shop job.
