If you have every removed your hard drive, then try taking it out and cleaning/checking the connections. Then put it back in. If you haven't then try that anyway but it is less likely to work...

SOURCE: my xbox 360 won't read any games

Well if you bought it in Feb. of this year I would just send it into M$. If the problem you are having is that it says "Open Tray" after putting a game in, means the calibration on the drive isn't strong enough to read the games and needs tweaked. M$ will fix it for free if the system is still under the 1 year warranty.

I can not play original xbox games now it said the hard drive must be attached and it is what is the problem?

Just assuming that your hard drive did not come with your Xbox 360? Or if it did then you bought your Xbox 360 used maybe? Below is the reason why some hard drives won't work with BC games. But before you go out and buy a new HDD then go ahead and remove your hard drive from the Xbox 360 and reinsert it to see if that helps. Note: it has to be a HDD not a USB memory for BC gaming.

"Simple. Certain eBay sellers try to make more money by buying 20GB official Microsoft Xbox 360 hard drives for cheap, and then putting larger laptop hard drives into the official 360 hard drive case and then selling them for less than an official drive of the same size would be. Now, technically, these hacked hard drives are the exact same thing as an official one, at least as far as parts go. They will function exactly the same as an official drive. But many of the sellers that sell these drives forget (or might be just plain ignorant about) one important thing - to play backward compatible Xbox games, the hard drives need a special partition for the Xbox 360 to store BC-related data in. If the hard drive doesn't have that partition, you can't play backward compatible games with it."

"So, to answer the question "Why won't original Xbox games work on my Xbox 360" there really is only one answer - Your cheap eBay hard drive might not be as official as you thought and is missing key files that allow for backward compatibility. The solution - Buy official Xbox 360 accessories from established retailers, or if you want to save a few bucks on eBay, make sure you ask the right questions so you know what you're getting."

Hi my name is chris and I have a game that I bought last year and i am 11 years old. when i got this there was no scratches but when my family was moving and i was at school at that time my brothers were...

It is possible that your game is scratched up enough that you can't play it directly on your xbox 360... BUT you might still be able to play it is you can save it to your Xbox 360 hard drive. You might need to try it a few times to get it to read and work but try following these instructions for installing the game from your CD directly onto your Hard drive. You will still need to have the CD in your Xbox 360 to play but it will be reading from your hard drive if you can install it. Good luck:

  1. Insert the game disc into the disc drive.

  4. Press the Y button on your controller.
  5. Select Install to Hard Drive.

Likely that for some reason the Xbox is having a hard time reading the disc and it is spinning the drive trying to search for files on the disk. If you aren't having the same issue with other games then recommend to resolve this issue then simply install the game onto your hard drive and the game will then only need to be accessed for verification only and the game will be played off your hard drive and not your disk drive. Here are the instructions for insalling a game to your hard drive:
Install Xbox 360 games on your hard drive from a game disc Note Installing an Xbox 360 game on a hard drive requires between 4 and 8 gigabytes (GB) of free disc space.
  1. Insert the game disc into the disc drive.

  4. Press Y on your controller.
  5. Select Install to Hard Drive.

You specify the xbox 360 do you know what year model you have? If it as earlier model then likely you are running into system instability with many reasons for the error being possible.

Does the error only appear with one particular title or across your game library?

If it is just one game then attempt to install the game onto your hard drive and play the game after that. To install the game onto your hard drive you will need to do the following:

Install Xbox 360 games on your hard drive from a game disc Note Installing an Xbox 360 game on a hard drive requires between 4 and 8 gigabytes (GB) of free disc space.

I have never heard this issue before. You probably have a lager issue then what can be resolved here and might face future issue in the future. Is this the only game you are having issues with?

Seeing that you mentioned you have purchased a hard drive then I would recommend you install the game to your hard drive and try play after that. This will resolve any issues possably of your disk drive possably getting hung up during gameplay.

follow these instructions to get your game installed on your hard drive:

Install Xbox 360 games on your hard drive from a game disc Note Installing an Xbox 360 game on a hard drive requires between 4 and 8 gigabytes (GB) of free disc space.

Hi, although you do have 4Gb storage space this is not actually classed as a hard drive. It is purely flash storage. To be able to play old Xbox games and certain multiplayer games you will in fact have to buy a new hard drive for your Xbox Slim. There is a small cover which hides a Sata hard drive slot connector in the top of your Xbox. I think currently Microsoft are selling the hard drive including the caddy for around £130 ($200). I myself was duped into buying a 4Gb console only to end up buying a hard drive afterward.

Hope this helps

Yes, this is a major problem with the new xbox 360. If you bought the 250 gig package, you shouldn't have to worry about this, but it sounds like you bought the 4 gig package. You don't have a hard drive. You only have an IMU(internal memory unit). You can buy an xbox 360 slim hard drive online. Install it into the hard drive slot, located on the side of the console. You're not the only one with this problem, lots of games require hard drives. For example, in halo reach, you cannot play co-op campaign or firefight without a hard drive.

Okay, the Xbox 360 isn't reverse compatable, meaning you can't play regular xbox 360 games on it. The only version that is reverse compatable is the Xbox 360 Elite. SOrry :(

5 minutes playing online keep giving me error message that the disk is dirty. i know it's not i played the same cd to another xbox console it's fine. what should i do or what's the problem...

Hi chrisastig
try to save the game you are playing to the hard drive so as to play from hard drive & not from the disk ! this is assuming you have enuf room on ur hard drive to copy the game to ??
You will still need to put the game in (even when playing from hard drive) but i find if its a game you play a lot its well worth doing as it saves on the disc drive/disc spinning whilst playing :-)
saves on overall usage of the xbox too !
If its ok reading the disc for the first 5 mins of usage it should be ok to copy to the hard drive to play from.
If there is a fault with the disc itself it will tell you when you try to copy it to the hard drive & if this is the case (& its a game you like/play a lot??) then try to borrow a copy just to put on ur hard drive only & use ur damaged disc as the 'required even if playing from hard drive' notification to the xbox that you do own the original copy !
Damaged discs are usually ok for 'playing from hard drive' as the information the xbox requires is very little but enuf for it to allow you to play the game (from the hard drive)
You will find it a lot quieter whilst playing anyway ! i think so !

hope this helps :-)

please remember thumbs up :-)

p.s. refer to ur xbox user manual or drop me a mail if you have any problems doing any of the above ??
