The Exit 2 interlock switch is either broken or off it's base or defective. If you open up the top door on left side of print, there is a push button switch that mounts on the back side. If you're standing on the left side of printer it's located on the top left. Make sure it's mounted properly and try to push the button with your finger and see if error goes away, if not replace switch, part number 110E11580.
Your problem: paper is jammed in the back of the printer around/in the fuser.
The Users Manual for your printer is located at: http://www.brother-usa.com/ModelDocuments/Consumer/Users Manual/UM_DCP_7030_7040_EN_1510.PDF
You'll need Adobe Acrobat Reader (free from www.adobe.com) to view it. LOCATION:The fuser cover is located in the back - its covered by the panel in the back called the "back cover" aka "back output tray cover". 2-step fix: (A) open the back cover - on the back of the printer. HOW: it flips down (B) open the fuser cover and remove paper jam How: Pull the 2 tabs (one left and one right) toward you to open the fuser cover. (it also flips down to open). Most of this fix comes from downloading the Users Manual and blowing up page 60 (of 108 pages).
Paper jams can be tricky to solve. The paper is usually stuck inside the printer mechanism so even if there is no visible paper jam, you will still get the paper jam error. Try this:
1. Turn off your printer
2. Open all trays and remove any paper stuck there
3. Locate the button to open the printer, open it and remove any paper stuck there also.
4. Repeate the above step for all buttons that you can find to access the inside of the printer
5. Close all doors and put back all trays
6. Turn on your printer

Some how, the sensor that reads when the cover is closed is not reacting like it should.
I assume that you have pulled the cover back up and then back down several times? The status then still indicates that th "cover open" and does not change?
We need to figure out why your sensor is not reading correct. It is located on the right rear when looking with the cover open.
