There is probably a broken solder where the audio jack connects to the mainboard. If you are in warranty, then contact HP and they will fix it free of charge. If not, then pick up a usb sound card. They are cheap ($20), plug into a usb port, and have a speaker and headphone jack. This will fix it.

It sounds like there is a problem with your memory card reader. I would take it in to your carriers store and tell them about this problem and have them test it. If your phone is still under warranty, they should fix this free of charge.

try to go to the device manger by clicking Start > Right Click My Computer > Properties > Hardware > then Device Manager. Under Sound Controllers, right click the device and click Uninstall. Then restart your pc and check if there is sound card detected. Otherwise consult Acer to replace the sound card in your laptop...

Go to www.dell.com. Click on the support for my system link. All software/drivers/updates that were originally preinstalled on your system can be downloaded free of charge from here. Download & install what you need and you should be all set. Hope this helps.
