Dear Sir/Ma'am :
The Yellow Ink Tank ran out of ink. I replaced it as usual with the proper Ink Tank. But this time in the display window it stated a code error which reads: 6A00 ERROR code. And also, the alarm light which is yellow is blinking. I don't know what is wrong!
I've had the printer since about 2005.
Please if you have any suggestions...I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks,

Hi
Error 6A00
The 6A00 is a Canon generic code for paper path jam.
Solution 1:
Move the printhead carriage back and forth a few times.
Solution 2:
Check the purge unit: Moving the print head assembly will not clear a purge unit if its jammed with paper, paper clips, push pins, screws, cookie crisp, flower bud pods or the like.
Solution 3:
Press the ink pads down in the purge unit.
Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.

SOURCE: My Printer says error code 6A00 What do i do?
Try this especially if the printer had not been used for some time.
Switch it off, open the lid and manually (GENTLY!)slide the cartridge-tray to the left. Then you can see if a piece of paper or ink stucks it. Gently degunk the base pad with a little isopropyl alcohol on a Q-tip and ease the mechanism back.
