Everytime i use the flash on my Fine Pix s1000fd it freezes
I have a Fine Pix s1000fd and it works ok 90% of the time. The problem occours when i use the flash. Just after i take the picture, the whole camera freezes and "Write Error" comes up on the screen with a red exclamation mark. I have to open the battery compartment and then turn the camera on again to get it to work.

You need to set the white balance for the kind of light in the gym. Take a few test shots while changing the white balance each time until you're happy with the color. For indoor shots, set your ISO to at least 800 and turn off the flash unless you're 10-12 feet from the action. If the camera has some sort of shake reduction, turn it on.
Your problem may be due to corrosion on the battery contacts inside the camera
which can prevent the full power of the batteries from flowing into the
camera. Try this free fix before you do anything else: remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with
a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush,
steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen
into the battery compartment during cleaning, then wipe both ends of
the batteries and place them back in the camera. This cleaning clears
the problem about 90% of the time. If it doesn't work for you, the camera may have
a problem that requires professional repair.
Sopundspretty daft I know but I have been caught out in this way too. If it's a new camera and been blurry all the time make absolutely sure there is no fine protective cover over lens or particularly the screen. Sounds silly but just a faint chance! Good luck. Judging by the number of problems it looks as though it's time to bring back the old style 'proper' cameras, don't you think? "Grumpy Old Man".
Hi there. I understand how frustrated you must be. Here is the link to the Fuji website. It has the firmware upgrade and the latest drivers for you. Hope it helps.
We have the same problem. Less than 6 months after using it the flash seems to lockup the camera and the only way to free it up is to remove the batteries. Hopefully someone has a solution or answer.
instead of using the usb plug that the camera has go to best buy, show them your card, and ask for a card reader what this will do is plug into a usb port, and it will read the data off of the card, completely bypassing the program
I had this problem with my s1000 Fujifilm, but solved it by changing the standard SD card for a SDHC class 4 card. It no longer freezes when a flash is used! I've tried a 4Gb and a 16 GB SDHC class 4 card and both are fine. Bazz
