How do I change my projector lamp?

Instructions
  1. Front Projector
    • 1 Disconnect the power cable from your projector. Allow it to cool for 30 to 60 minutes. Lay the projector upside down on a table.
    • 2 Remove the lamp cover, typically located on one of the rear corners of the projector's underside. Depending on your projector, you will either have to loosen a few Phillips screws or press on one or two plastic release tabs to remove the lamp cover.
    • 3 Loosen the screws holding the lamp assembly in place. Grab the assembly by the handle and slide it out of the projector.
    • 4 Slide a new lamp assembly into the projector. Don't touch the glass on the bulb because it will damage the bulb. Tighten the retaining screws on the lamp assembly and replace the lamp cover.
    • 5 Turn the projector right side up and reconnect the power cable. Power on your projector.
    Rear Projector
    • 6 Unplug the TV from the outlet. Let it cool for 30 to 60 minutes.
    • 7 Remove the lamp cover. On most rear projection TVs, the lamp cover is located on the right or left side of the TV's rear panel. Remove the cover by loosening the screws and pulling the cover away from the TV. Certain manufacturers, like Mitsubishi, have the lamp cover in the front of the TV, near the left speaker. To get to the cover, you must first use your fingers to pry off the front panel below the screen, revealing the speakers and lamp cover. Loosen the screws on the cover and pull it away from the TV.
    • 8 Remove the lamp assembly. Loosen its screws, grab the handle and slide it out of the TV. If you have a newer Sony model, there are no screws. Instead, press the release tab to unlock the lamp assembly and slide it out of the TV.
    • 9 Slide a new lamp assembly into the TV. Don't touch the glass on the assembly, as the oils in your fingers will damage the bulb. Tighten the screws or pop the retaining tab into place.
    • 10

Replace the lamp cover and front panel, if necessary. Plug your TV back into the electrical outlet and power it on.

Tips & Warnings
  • Touching the lamp assembly before it has cooled can cause a nasty burn.

Can i transmit a tv signal through my tv to the projector, ie- i want to watch live tv on the projector screen...can you help ?

yes you can, but not "through" your tv, unless your tv had component video outputs. you should run a component cable from your cable box directly to your projector, or do what i did and buy a multimedia reciever/surround sound system and run it to that then split it from that to your tv and your projector.

Blured picture on thomson projector tv

If cocusing teh projector is not working, try cleaning the lens. Sometimes dust is dislodged when replacing a lamp and coats the optics.

Connection with the TV

Hi,

It will work only if your TV has a Video OUT either in Composite RCA, S-video or in some other form although not all TV models have this feature.

Alternately, you can hook up your projector to an old VCR which definitely will have a Video OUT and use its built-in TV tuner. Of course you have likewise to connect a cable/aerial to the RF IN of the VCR.

Hope this be of some help/idea. Good luck and kind regards.

Display

Hi, Yes it is possible but.... Your laptop version may either be using an NVidia or an ATI. If an NVidia, right click on any clear area of your desktop, click on Properties, (in Display Properties) Settings, Advanced, TwinView tab, Clone, Apply, OK, Yes (if you want to keep this setting), OK. Am not sure if it will work with the ATI version, right click on any clear area of your desktop, click on Properties, (in Display Properties) Settings, Advanced, Display, TV button, Primary (display only on projector) hope you have other setting like LCD + TV (display on both), Apply, Yes (if you want to keep this setting), OK. Your Canon LV-S3 Multimedia Projector's Native resolution is 800x600 max @ 1280x1024 Pixels. You may need to set your laptop to the lowest first and gradually work it up till the projector no longer can display, then back down one notch. You may also need to press on Fn + F8 a few times to check if you can switch displays: LCD, TV/projector, LCD + TYV/Projector. You can try either the S-video TV-out connector or the video connector (both at the back). Hope this be of help/idea. Post back how things turn up or should you need further information. Good luck and kind regards.
