White lines running through printed line

The white lines occur when the print-heads do *NOT* output coloured-ink when they should be.

Run the Epson printer-software to "clean-the-print-heads".

Looks like a braille text

Open the HP Printer Toolkit (this software was installed from the CD-ROM that came with the HP printer) and run a "cleaning cycle",
because some of the ink-jets are clogged, which results in the "all-white" horizontal lines, where some part of that line should be black.

While printing photos my printer has white vertical lines

Sounds like you need to re-align the print cartridge . The reason the text comes out ok is probably because it is only using the black cartridge for text. The color cartridge is the one that's out of alignment. You may have some sort of Cannon utility running in the task bar that will allow you to easily allign the print cartridges. If not, go to the main "Printers and Faxes" window, RIGHT-click on the printer and select "Properties". You should be able to find a button in the properties that's labeled something like re-align print cartridges. It will print out a series of test pages and ask you to select the set of lines that looks the straightest and type it in. It's a good idea to do this every time you replace a cartrige. Hope this helps, If I was able to FixYa, please remember to rate me. Thanks.

Horizontal white lines through the text

Your ink cartridge (s) is dried up, even some new ones are dried up, even tho' they're sealed.

Some self-tests don't use black.

Stripes on Images only - Text OK

Perhaps the CMY color heads need alignment. If you have not already done so, run a head alignment from the driver maintenance section. It will print out a page containing several lines and text, and request you select the closest-aligned images. After this is done, do another image print to check for improvements.
Normally, the printer uses the black cartridge for text and the CMY inks for images (even for black on photo and specialty paper). So when you are printing normal text pages on plain paper, only the black ink is used. A good check for this would be to print a normal text page, but select photo paper in the driver to trick the printer into using the CMY inks to make a substitute black text page. If this looks ok, then you are having issues other than cartridge alignment.
