Cuisinart grind n brew coffee maker will not pump
This can be caused from three different failures; the heating element itself, the bimetal thermal switch that controls the heating element or a thermal fuse that has opened with (or without) reason.
Check the bottom plate on which the pot sits after the machine has been on for several minutes to see if it has heated at all.
If not, then the thermal fuse or the element has failed.
The former part is customarily welded to one end of the heating element and cannot safely be replaced by itself.
The thermal switch that causes the cycling of the element is clamped to the element but also is welded to its connecting points.
The entire assembly generally will need to be replaced.
The exact location of the failure can be found using the most primitive multimeter and a few minutes time.

I have this same problem, confirmed that the bottom plate is not warming at all. Upon disassembly, I found the problem... the connection at one end of the heating element had corroded and separated from the element. Do you have any info on how to ID and locate the assembly?
Cuisinart has been completely unresponsive to customer service requests. Apparently their products are engineered to fail after a (very) few years and they expect you to buy a replacement, rather than fix the broken one... not exactly a "green" business practice. I've had two Cuisinart coffeemakers failed shortly after the 3-year warranty expired. Coincidence?
Better the failure you had than that others have experienced; there are dozens of reports of fires and near-fires with Cuisinart coffee makers.
In your case, I would advise not pursuing replacement parts since in my experience, the parts are costly enough that buying a replacement is the better choice.
None of the Asian manufacturers are interested in seeing their products repaired, only replaced.
They now have us by the throat since our (US) labor has priced itself out of existence.
Thanks for the info. It seems a Cuisinart is made to expire and burn out exactly at the end of the warranty. What a pitty. I won't be buying another one of their products ever! Since it seems there is a self distruct switch built into these thing. This is my third one. Strike 3 Cuirsinart!
Hi, thank you for the thread, my disk is heating up, but only gets warm, doesnt seem to get hot enough to boil the water. Is this a mother board problem or the filament problem?

Our Cuisinart grind and brew stunk up the entire house when a motor apparently burned up inside the machine. Now the machine will not pump any water and nothing gets hot.... but it still grinds!
Just figured out how I messed it up. I wasn't concerned with the carbon filters, so I removed that part altogether. Then I overfilled the grounds and they spilled into the tank. By removing that filter plastic, I basically welcomed anything to get stuck in the water intake valve. I've taken the baseplate off (bottom) and removed the intake hose, cleaned it and repositioned. After putting back together (you need a small and thin "security" screwdriver to disassemble), everything works great-- the filter part sans carbon filter, is back in place. Phew! Took a puttering Saturday afternoon. Worth it though! I love this coffeemaker.
Thanks Ned. Most people besides you know if the coffee pot is on, especially if they own it. Perhaps, you should stick to a typing class or maybe an English class. If there is a screw in it, I don't recommend you try to fix it.

Replacement time. a certain percentage of thse have this problem. There is a small, non-replaceable tube in the inside toward the bottom that has become melted/damaged.

Our Cuisinart grind and brew was leaving a puddle under it after making a pot of coffee. I called Cuisinart this week and it turns out the handle of the carafe has to be lined up in the middle of the opening for the carafe. It will be under the word Cuisinart, in the middle.
We have now made several pots with NO residual puddle of water or coffee. It also seems to be making the pots quicker.
Before trying this I had run 2 pots of water with 1/2 cup white vinegar in it also. But it still puddled until we lined up the carafe as noted above.

Stuck? how stuck can it be when it is supposed to be removable? Try turn ing it,
SOURCE: our coffee maker is only brewing half of the
Run a 1/2 pot of vinegar through it 2-3 times (I reuse it) and then run water 1-2 times to get the vinegar smell out. This cleans the mineral deposits from your water that are clogging it.
