Some websites don't work on wireless - on LAN cable all fine

I have exactly the same problem. 2 Vista laptops connected to internet via a Linksys wireless router and I cannot access some websites when connected to wireless lan. If I plug the computers to the same router with a cable all works just fine. It's only wireless with problems on some web sites...

It all worked just fine for a year until yesterday when all of a suddent some web sites just won't load (google, yahoo, gmail, some other sites as well), some load just 50% (youtube, facebook; sometimes only text loads without images or the web site loads in a non flash mode) while some other web sites work fine.

One laptop has firefox and IE installed while the other has Opera and IE. The problem persists regardless of the browser used. Firewall, antivirus do not affect this. I am sure it has to do with the wlan on router. Anyone else experienced this? Do I have to replace it?

I loged on into the management console of my router and nobody touched anything; all the settings are just as they were. I have no idea how to diagnose or fix this...

Thanks for any help/ideas...

The next day the router suddenly started working again, no particular reason. I don't like this as I don't know what went wrong and when it will start again. So I am waiting to see if the problem persists...

In any case, I will change the MTU to see if I can reproduce the problem.

    Thans for the help!

MY LINKSYS WRT150N ROUTER WAS CONNECTED TO THE MODEM VIA CABLE.IT WAS WORKING NICELY FOR WIRELESSLY CONNECTING TO LAPTOP AND IPOD AND ANOTHER LAPTOP/DESKTOP WITH A ASUS USB ADAPTER.THE...

Try turning off the power wait for 30 secs and reconnect the power and check if the LEDs light up again.
IF NOT THEN -
To reset the Linksys back to the default settings - Press and hold the pinhole RESET button at the back of therouter with the power ON for 20 secs. then release the RESET button.
To connect to your wireless router, the router's wireless settings needs to beconfigured with the SSID, encryption etc. and also the wireless cards in allthe laptops/computers needs to be configured with these router's wirelesssettings. Then the laptops/desktop computers can communicate with your wirelessrouter.
Connect a LAN cable from the Linksys to the LAN port on your computer.
Open a browser and enter the Linksys configuration URL
http://192.168.1.1
The default login = admin
The default PW = admin
You can protect your router by changing the default admin PW (write it down andput it in a safe place)
Go to the wireless configuration and set up the SSID and WPA or WPA2encryption.
Apply these settings to the wireless card in your laptop/computer.

My Linksys WAG325N is not connecting through LAN but working fine with wireless, even changed ethernet cables still the same.

Not a solution but I have exactly the same problem. I recently updated to a new windows 7 pc and now I can hardly ever get internet connection on the pc but wireless is completely fine! I had a tech out and in the end they recommended getting a new router.

Check the IP address on the Vista wireless network connection. Make sure that there is not static IP address on the wireless connection. That could be one of the reason.

HOW TO USE INTERNET IN MORE THAN ONE PC FROM LINKSYS WIRELESS G B

You have two ways on how you can get other computer online through this router. First, you can wired them (using an Ethernet cable) to one of the Ethernet ports on the back of the router. They are the ones labeled 1, 2, 3, and 4.

Second is through wireless, but those computers that will connect through wireless must also have a wireless adapter to be able to pick up the signal that this router is broadcasting.

SETTING WIRELESS

1. Shut off the power to your cable or dsl modem for about 30 minutes.

2. Connect the ethernet cable from your modem to the Internet port on the router.

3. After 30 minute power on ONLY the modem NOT the router

4. Wait about 60 seconds and power on the router

Try it now.

Motorola SB5100 and linksys router connection

The only thing that you need to setup on your Linksys for it to work with cable is to make sure that DHCP is enabled on the router.  You will need to plug your router into the modem via the ethernet cable and then plug your neighbors pc into a link port on the router (the cable modem plugs into the internet port)  You will also need to follow the reboot procedure.  Power everything off.
1: Turn on the surfboard and wait about 1 minute for the surfboard to make a connection with your ISP (the link light should come on).
2:Turn on your router and wait for your router to sync up with the surfboard . 3: Turn on your computer. Whenever you plug anything into a cable modem, you must recycle power to the modem.  It "remembers" the last device that was plugged into it, so it's memory needs to be cleared.

I have a broadband internet connection at home which had a modem and only one LAN cable. Now I have 2 laptop's one with Microsoft XP and other MS-Vista. Whenever I try to connect internet the one with XP...

if you had say one desktop and one laptop I would say to buy another LAN card for the desktop and enable internet connection sharing on it for the other computer but with two laptops that might not be possible and you will need a router.
But routers are pretty cheap nowadays and you can probably find a basic 4 port router on eBay for around $20 (you don’t really need to spend the extra money on a wireless one unless of course both laptops have wireless connections then you might find that a wireless router to be pretty useful.)
But to answer your question YES you need a router since a router will take your IP address and split it up into multiple internal IP addresses and allow more that one connection to the internet that will appear as one connection to your ISP

Unable to connect to my wireless network connection (SSID still VISIBLE)

Log on to the router, go to your wireless setup page. Disable wireless, reboot it and when it comes back up, enable wireless once more with a different pre-shared key. You'll need obviously to enter this new key into your laptops. Let me know if this solves the problem.
